Game Room probably just had an ongoing maintenance/content contract with Microsoft. I doubt it was successful enough for Microsoft to keep pushing content, except at a low-level.
The developer of the recently released Blade Kitten and the Xbox Live Game Room are done.

The demo of Blade Kitten was pretty bad. I'm not surprised that it didn't sell well. Game Room was always going to be a niche product. I wonder how it's doing?

This better not mean the end of the weekly Game Room quick looks.
That Blade Kitten was poorly conceived. It had old school side scrolling gameplay with a theme for teen aged little chicks. Not having comprehensive wardrobe functionality doomed it.
Damn it.
While Game Room has a ton of flaws it still had tons of promise. And I liked my little virtual space and the themes, mascots, and decor that adorned it. Challenges were fun too. Sure there was a large pile o' shovelware but there were some true classics too. I ended up with about 50 games, I'd estimate.
Hopefully someone will pick up the application and run with it. I fear it'll go the way of 1v100 though. While I guess I'm OK with them not releasing more content they better not shut down the servers.
Blade kitten had an interesting concept, it just played really poorly. I had a hard time navigating the demo level, the animations looked odd and floaty, and the demo level just seemed too long, I actually got bored and quit before finishing it.
What happened to 1 versus 100?
