You did.
You can say whatever you want.
No.
No.
So it's like everywhere else in the world, then?
[Almost choked here]
Yes.
See earlier point about statistical significance.
Nothing too rage-worthy here, but it's so rare I see any reference to the DC-X, I had to note it here. I was in college minoring in space studies around the time this was being tested, and we spent a lot of time on it, both in my classes and the club I was in. I was raging a bit when it ended up getting shuffled around and eventually killed.
Overall I agree, our space program has induced much sadness in me compared to what it could have been. Not that hit hasn't done anything for us, but it could be so much more.
Spatzi,
Hey man I am not going to attack you. Just wanted to point out the "polite" Asians you meet and the "impolite" Asians you meet are just like everybody else. Maybe they as a group have some cultural differences that come off as rude to your western eyes, but it would be better to take them on a case by case basis. By your own admission they are not all the same. Yes you can point to specific things that are irritating and yes they may be true, but you are painting with a pretty broad brush.
spatzi, it's not racist to say the particular Asian people you encounter are doing the things you're saying they're doing. But when you start the whole discussion with "Don't get me started on the fucking Asians", it's pretty nutty to expect anything but the reaction you've gotten. The fact that you're trying so desperately to convince everyone you're not actually a racist and blaming it all on the anti-PC crowd tends to make me think you're also just sort of dumb.
You've also conveniently ignored the posts by Creole Ned, who has lived in Vancouver for the last decade and a half but hasn't run into all the problems you're talking about. I suspect that it's maybe because his first thought when walking down the street isn't "Oh great, here comes another stupid Asian!".
Black Americans, actually. Throughout most of Africa blood pressures are fairly average. While the world's highest instance of high blood pressure is in Germans.
Not that any of this matters, since a doctor will not look at someone's skin color and think to himself 'he has high blood pressure' and not bother to test it. He may assume it a root and test to confirm, but to do otherwise would be stupid and potentially endangering to his patient.
Whereas you see Asians and think 'this guy is going to smash into me with his car, so I better post about it on the internet'.
Back on topic:
TV commercials where middle-aged people eat cereal and talk with their mouths full of milk and chewed up cereal while gesturing with their spoons about their blood pressure. Makes me want to choke somebody.
Good morning to you too! First off, Creole Ned doesn't walk Robson st every day, and creole Ned admits he plays dodge ball, just like I used to do. If you want live your life by constantly jumping out of the way of oncoming Asians, you do that. It's not for me. Second, when I start with 'fucking Asians', again, for the simpletons, it's based on my continual and repeated encounters with Asians, in Vancouver, and it follows the spirit of this thread: a rant. In this case, I WENT TOO FAR, as it was a rant about ASIANS. I should have kept it to a more happy rant, like hitting my head on things. It's okay to get mad about inanimate objects, unless we have some inanimate objects here that take offense. Seeing some of the responses, I'd say YES.
It would be unfair for me to have only one incident with an Asian and then say 'those fucking Asians'. That would be racist. If they are ALL ramming incidents with Asians, I'm going to say 'those fucking Asians', because that's what they are. If every one of the old women on a bus that I see flossing is Asian, I"m going to say 'those fucking Asians who floss on the bus." Maybe, at home, they are so used to being crammed into subway cars with a shovel and being in close contact with other people that a full force shoulder check is completely normal for them and apologies are not necessary. Again, not normal for me, and not necessary if you open your eyes and PLAN TWO SECONDS AHEAD of your travel plans into oncoming pedestrian traffic.
No, my first thought is AFTER they ram into me. Before that, I'm walking on my side of the sidewalk, minding my own business. AFTER they run into me, I'm thinking 'here's a another stupid Asian', because it's almost always Asians who do it.
Oh, to be like Amsterdam. Hand out rulebooks for all immigrants and visiting students so they can get adjusted to life in Holland and adhere to Dutch culture. Never going to happen here. Vancouver is 'bring your own rules...oh and some money.'
Since Vancouver doesn't have an inherent culture, and I'm obviously the bad guy (along with my racist wife) because we are tired of being hit by ASIANS, who have taken over Robson St, I guess I need to adapt to their culture of blindness/contact sports, or move.
I told a few friends about the one who says, "No, call them people, even if they are the majority offenders of the group.' They also laughed. They also appreciated the fact that this guy has 3000 previous posts concerning 'Assassin's creed', a video game.
You see, everyone I know is a racist, like me and my wife, but at least they have a sense of humor, unlike the majority of the responses here. I'm Canadian and German. I can laugh at bizarre Canadian and German traits. We can make fun of ourselves, not just others. For example, 'Those fucking Germans are so depressed. I've never seen such a group of sad, angry faces as when I rode the U-bahns all the time." Am I going to hear from the Germans now? No, because they can laugh at themselves, at least when they're not on the subway. I would never say that about the Turks, because they all seemed quite happy in comparison. I grew up on Abbotsford, the murder/church capital of Canada. I make fun of it all the time, and half my family, who still lives there, continually beating the odds.
Is it white people who are responding violently to the 'fucking Asians' bit, or Asians? If it's Asians, you seem really sensitive, really offended. Yet, when I'm on the street dealing with you on a one to one basis, after you ram into me/us, there is absolutely no sensitivity. You ram, you don't apologize, you take up the whole street, you say 'ow' and keep on walking. Why so sensitive on the internet, but not in real life, where it counts? Any courteous Robson st walking Asians here care to comment on why their fellow street walking Asians are such assholes? So far, we've only got one local who had experience on one of the busiest Asian dominated streets in the world (so of course it's not representative of common Asian behavior), but he's zig zagging his way around the Asians, so he doesn't count.
Any old Asian women here who take the bus and floss their teeth while sitting next to me? Can you explain this behavior? Anyone have a mother who does that, or a relative? I'd like some insight on why Asians do it, but no one else.
Any bad Asian drivers here care to explain why they drive the way they do in Vancouver, and endanger me and my wife's life while cycling? I'd LOVE to meet some of you one on one, to talk more, since I can't catch up to you with my bike most of the time.
Fucking Asians, how do they work?
I'm off to walk Robson st now! Anyone want to come with me? It's great exercise.
Oh, and can I get a ban, please? I tend to respond to the inanity, and as Deiter would say, "It's getting tiresome." All this time wasted, responding to idiots, when I could be out on the street running into them!
Er, do you even know where you are? The majority of the posts on this board are about video games and it's frequented by game developers, journalists and other various people in the industry. Going to a games forum and using someone's post count about games as a weapon in your argument is very peculiar.
When they looked back on it, they remembered the moment of silence after Spatzi’s post more than anything else. It was like the silence after an orchestra has finished playing, except instead of applause ringing out, a collective ‘ugh’ soon filled the air, like a garbage lorry reversing onto a rotting walrus. It was the sound of fairies dying.
I never mentioned how often I walk down Robson Street, so I'm not sure how you would know whether I walk down it daily or not. I admitted that I walk fast and navigate around others on crowded sidewalks and if there is a large group, I generally move around them instead of, say, plowing through the middle of the group. I don't note the racial make-up of the groups because it is irrelevant to me. It simply doesn't happen very often, either. I'm certainly not living my life constantly 'jumping out of the way of oncoming Asians'.
Maybe asians are gunning for spatzi because they all know him, and the dirty looks he keeps giving each of them. Maybe they aren't racially motivated to kill him, but they just don't like him.
I think we all just got trolled. I was reading the thread over since spatzi started posting and it just seemed a little too... bait.
Really?
