Getting HoMM3 Multiplayer to work
I've just spend a half hour trying to get this damn thing working, so I'm throwing my hands in the air and asking the Hivemind.
Is it even possible to get HoMM3's TCP/IP Multiplayer working? My friend and I have tried just about every permutation we can think of; me hosting, her hosting, trying to connect through the internet, using a VPN (Hamachi)...
I'm so befuddled. I don't see why it can't find each other's IP addresses...

Not that this is what you want to hear, but a friend and I spent a lot of time trying to figure this out about a year ago and eventually gave up. If you do figure it out, I'd love to know.

A friend and I spent a couple of hours on this today. I can confirm that it talks TCP/IP using either deprecated options or an older version of the protocol, and it just ... doesn't work.
IPX might work, but all of the IPX game hosting services kinda suck. Maybe I'll look into some sort of IPX-over-TCP/IP tunneling solution. That'll be complicated.

Here they specifically point to version 1.0.1.5 of Hamachi, so maybe something in the newer versions broke however HoMM3 works.
