That was a cool gadget and would definitely have interesting gameplay possibilities. Batman used them in a few different ways throughout the movie, all to great effect.

Sheeeeeit, Quincey Sharp's plans for Arkham City were in the first game, in his secret office. I went over every inch of that game twice over, and I had no idea about this.
i know! crazy good hidden room :)
More info from CVG.
All the previous gear available at the start of the game. Plus smoke bombs! Hell yeah!
I got the Game Informer issue with the Batman preview yesterday. Sounds like a lot of good changes. It mentioned that several of the famous Batman villains have multiple side quest story arcs. You have to interrogate certain gang members allied with the Riddler to find his question marks and there will be puzzles associated with most of them. No more just finding it and picking it up. Lastly, the detective mode will be more involved and will require more thought (i.e. puzzles).
I'll inevitably get my Game Informer two weeks after everyone else and all the details have been posted online. It really pays to be a subscriber!
I'm hoping for a minigame where entering detective mode allows you to 'scan' areas. You control a little reticule and as it moves around the location you're in the controller vibrates when Batman finds a clue.
To allow for a meaningful upgrade path, you'll be able to increase the speed of the scanning reticule by collecting enough palladium.
Hope they add some batmobile driving - a chase scene or 2 would be cool. Maybe a "race-against-the-bomb-timer" mission.
I want the batmobile with not much more purpose than just getting to locations faster. Driving the batmobile - just cause we fuckin' can!
The appropriate response to LK's post is laughter, not whatever it is you did there.
I'm going to steal that "go on vacation"
joke got use in conversation, LK. Brilliant!
I didn't mean it in a malicious way.
Arkham Asylum was a fun game and it certainly had no pretense at being anything other than a game (with a well told story and awesome voice acting) but still a gamey game.
So what harm can a driving level add to an already gamety gamey game? It's still in keeping with the Batman character, I mean he does use his vehicle along with his gadgets.
I loved the game - my point is that LK's and CAP GUY's responses make it seem as if it was some brilliant, groundbreaking, innovative, cerebral masterpiece when it was really just an action/stealth game, albeit a VERY WELL MADE one (and possibly the greatest comic book game adaptation) where a driving or underwater level wouldn't seem so out of place. Not like I said they should add a dating sim component or have Batty go to night school and battle goons in a randomly generated dungeon ala Persona 3 :)
Now I'm REALLY hoping they add a Root Beer Tapper type mini-game where you have to catch chemical-filled beakers and if they drop the Bat Cave starts to catch fire!
For PC gamers hovering over clues in detective mode, Batman will say "You are such a badass."
My only wish here is a new keyboard command for dodge. Direction key plus space bar twice was easy after playing for 10 hours, but completely unnecessary.
And a good game, of course.
What the hell is that??!
Haptics!
Good point. Also, what harm could there be having the team from Rocksteady show up at your house when you're about halfway through the game and take a big steaming dump on your floor? Because that's what a random driving level in a non-driving game is. A big, hot pile of shit in the middle of your living room.
I hoped your followup to my scanning idea was meant to be as ludicrous as my own, but now that I see you were being serious, I am saddened. We should not take a vacation together. I cannot promise you would return.
Now I'm wondering if krazkrok ever does body disposal.
I'd like to do pizza delivery missions from the Batmobile to earn a little extra cash.
