Does he have to bring beer? I forget how that new rule works.

Oh man, now I'm tempted just for the humor value inherent in that mental image.

Nah, not going to ragequit over it, I'll just take out my frustration on the accursed Texans. While wearing the throwback Oilers uniforms, just to show what a REAL Houston team is like.

You know, for the Gameflow stuff, if you hold down right trigger, it'll show you the play, just like before, right? In the demo I had a lot of fun with it on offense, hated it on defense.

Yeah, I mean the name of the play. That'd be handy.

Fair enough. I'm bad with names, so I hardly ever remember than anyway. Which makes finding them again a pain until I learn how the playbook is laid out. ;)

If thats the rule, Talisker is going to be annoyed since I don't drink...which might make him punch me again...

We can play some weird AFL teams as our exhibition match. Their uniforms are funny, and unsuccessful as DLC.

I'd be up for that as well. Lemme know the time.

What's the time? Its about that time.

I'm in for 3 on 3. Cory and I played a half of it and while we were horribly inept it was pretty fun.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but they updated the online franchise rosters today...

I haven't checked it out yet. I'm curious to see how they handled Favre.

Team Madden is lots of fun. Looking forward to hearing about how it went.

From here on out, if anyone from last year's league shows back up now, they have to pick from the remaining open teams -- I'm declaring the window to call "dibs" closed (we're getting pretty full, and it wouldn't be fair to bump people off of decent teams and leave 'em with the Rams or whatever at this point).

We're still planning on firing up the league after the NFL preseason is finished (so's to let everyone get their copy of the game, get used to the new stuff, and so we can start the league with the final post-preseason roster update).

Played a few games with Xaroc last night - the kicking lag was horrible, I think we both shanked a number of PATs wide left. I think part of that could have been due to the whole first-week-of-release rush with everyone hitting the servers, though. Plus the roster update at the same time.

Despite needing to get used to playing a run-based offense again, I'm really happy with the improvements in the passing game. Miracle catches seem to be fewer, while realistic bobbles and separation occur more often than in previous years.

You may want to check your connection. I played another couple of games with dailin about 30 minutes later (he is in Detroit) and we had nowhere near the lag that you and I did. If it were really system load it should have been more laggy then because it was after 10pm eastern and 7pm pacific which is when all the west coast people start getting on in droves.

Oh yeah, I've been having MASSIVE connection speed issues (my 11mbps connection is testing at .6mpbs lately) - but that shouldn't have caused a lag for both of us, should it?

Definitely. Especially if you are getting a ton of packet loss or high pings in there. Call your provider and complain.

You can see sort of generically in a short time frame how bad your connection is by popping open a command prompt and typing:

    ping www.google.com

and watching for how high your pings are and how many ping timeouts you get.

Oh, I know. Got a response this morning - of course, I'm not at home now, so hopefully it'll have cleared up. Stupid Time-Warner. Once AT&T gets decent service to my building...

OK. Talisker, Strummer, Fuzzyslug, BlueJack, and seventimessix, hjuyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyg\

hmm. My cat just typed that, but when I asked her what she meant, she just hopped off the keyboard.

Let's say Saturday at 4:00 PST. Send me a message, and I will add you to the party, and then the team game.

Anyone who's interested in alternates, please let me know a few minutes before 4:00.

PM me if you can't make it. Otherwise, see you all then.

I won't be able to make it, as I'm heading over to a friend's place to watch the Lions/Steelers preseason game at 7:30pm (er, 4:30 PST).

On an unrelated note, let me just say: Madden Chris Johnson is ridiculous.

And the Madden Ravens defense, ugh. My rookie Superstar running back had been picking up about 100 yards a game, give or take, with the Patriots, but then we played Baltimore and that became -2 yards. I think they sacked Brady at least seven times.

    Did Trevor get one?

Len, I've going to dinner at a friend's house tonight. However, if folks see me around, feel free to invite. I haven't been around yet, and have barely touched Madden 11 as a result, but I should get a chance to play a bit this week.

I don't know. I tried playing as the Ravens, and he couldn't break through the O-line. But Ray Lewis was all over the place, and Kelly Gregg was destroying our running game.

I would be up for it today, but it would probably have to be later. I have family coming over for dinner about 4 EDT. They likely will still be here at 7.

I'm in this boat - its a gorgeous day (91 degrees) and the Portland Soapbox Derby is today (4pm EST is 1 PM and I hope to be three Tall Boys deep by that time).

Be around later - and tommorrow though.

Talisker, I've got a friend incoming to take over the Jags - he's just waiting on the forum approval process. Not that I expect the Jags to be snatched up anytime soon...

League is looking good this season!

    A few questions -

When are we looking at starting?

Are we going through the Free Agency again? Last years method (two rounds order determined by team rating then free-for-all) seemed to work pretty good.

    Will there be cake?

Have we come to consensus on quarter length, time run off and rules?

    discuss

Starting: early September, once we have the roster update after the teams make their final cuts.

Free agent "draft": I'll post a schedule again, yeah, although I'll probably compress it a bit timewise vs. last year.

Settings: My leaning is 8 minute quarters w/15 second runoff. Yeah, that leaves less time for adjustments at the line, but calling audible hotroutes for all your receivers is just silly. Other'n that, All-Pro, injuries on, trading amongst human-owned teams only.
