Pffft. You ain't getting a 75 rated player in the draft with a 4th rounder, that's a fact.

Actually, it looks like I might not do too badly moving Antonio Cromartie into the FS spot. His CB spot could be taken by either 82-rated Kyle Wilson or... wait a minute, that can't be right... are they telling me Braylon Edwards would be a better cornerback than Kyle Wilson?

Since he can't catch the ball at receiver, we may test that out!

I think I ended up doing that with the Ravens... I can't remember because I didn't finish the season out, but Mason may have been playing a CB spot.

I really hope someone puts their wide receiver as a cornerback. Randy Moss is positively salivating over that. That's the kind of thing he'd feed to his dog!

Is the draft still set for Monday at 7:00 PM EST?

What's the plan for free agency? After the first season and draft cuts, there may be a good handful of useful players up for grabs. We could do a least one scheduled round, in the manner Talisker did, on Tuesday, and then have a free for all.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Sounds good to me. A scheduled free agent round (in draft order) of 10 or 15 min for each team would work well for Tuesday evening and get it done in a few hours.

Also, looking back at the Madden 10 franchise thread, it looks like Talisker set up a 1 min time limit during the draft for picking. That sounds quick, but it had to be done like that to get through 7 rounds in a reasonable amount of time.

One minute is plenty of time once you get into the flow of draft. There are enough human owners to allow time to look at different players.

Yeah, Nute's just got to set up the Tuesday schedule for Free Agency. I think it was like five minutes to make your pick, but if you miss that window you can jump on your guy at anytime after, or something like that.

IIRC, that was the maximum time they let you set per round last year.

A few quick draft related questions.

How many rounds is the draft?

What is the cap on the number of players I'm allowed? Is there any way to tell how many players are on my roster without having to count them manually?

Can I pick up free agents now? Or do I have to wait until after the draft?

We still on for tomorrow night? Anything else I need to know? HOw long will we have to make picks?

    2. 55 players, no
    3. The Tuesday after the draft will have a 1 round free agent picking schedule in the evening, to be laid out by Mighty. After that it works like normal. You can pick whoever you want up.
    4. Tomorrow at 9:30pm EST.
    5. 1 min to make picks, so you might want to get a good idea of who you are gonna target today.

Do I have to cut deadwood from the roster before drafting new guys? Or can I wait until after? I won't know who I need to cut until I've determined what positions I've filled in the draft...

Yeah, Omniscia. If you are at 55 players before/during the draft the AI will automatically cut your worst players to make room for the rookies afterward. Everyone should cut 5-7 of their worst players before the draft.

Like Broadway Joe says, just cut your worst. If you find yourself short in a position after the draft then, worst case scenario, once Free Agency starts you can always resign the stiff that you cut previously (but more than likely there will be someone slightly better available).

Plus the commish can always pause the draft if someone needs the time.

All right - the stage is set for tomorrow's draft, which will begin at 9:30 Eastern / 6:30 Pacific.

Following that, Tuesday night will be the first Free Agency block, starting at the same time and allowing 15 minutes for each free agency pick. Since there is no way to determine what team ratings are until the season actually starts, we have a number of options.

1: Use the same order as the draft order.
2: Use the rankings that the offline rosters currently give the teams.
3: Select a totally random order.

Folks can chime in with what they'd prefer, and I'll post the order before the draft tomorrow, in case your draft picks are going to be swayed by what you might get in free agency.

The first round of free agency will be on a schedule, as in "you may not pick up a player before this time". You are limited to one free agency player until 24 hours after the free agency round has started. We'll only do one round of scheduled free agency before the free-for-all.

NOTE: The following players are only in free agency as part of trades. DO NOT SELECT THEM, the commish will assign them to their proper teams:

Jamaal Charles, Jerod Mayo, Adam Vinateri, Dwight Lowery

We might as well do draft order. That will be the simplest.

Starting at the same time (9:30 EST) and going for 15 minutes would take 8 hours (and go very late for those at the late end)! Recommend starting a little earlier, if possible, and doing a five minute window (with those who miss their slot being able to take one (1) at anytime after their slot), making it less than 3 hours.

The 15 minute window was to make things a little easier, since folks' clocks usually vary by about 5 minutes. Possibly starting at, say, 5:30 Pacific and using a 10 minute window?

So we're doing several rounds of Free agency drafting Tuesday Night? And it will go over several hours? I need to make sure I've got my ducks in a row as I'm busy Tuesday and unavailable Wednesday.

It's 10 minutes. You just need to be there for your time slot, not the whole evening. (For Tuesday, that is.)

Not to be a douche, but why a 10 minute window for picking free agents? For those of us on the east coast with a late pick, that's pretty late. May I suggest that no one needs that long to pick a free agent. 5 minutes (or less) would be more than sufficient and would get the whole thing done pretty quickly.

Also, Cold Shoulder (Cardinals) and I (Giants) are trading Gerald Hayes (MLB) for Bruce Johnson (CB). Should I release Johnson to the free agent pool?

I'd be fine with 5 min. That is still an eternity compared to the 1 min we get during the draft. :)

As long as picking times are clearly laid out, I don't think there will be a problem with people being off, unless they want to be.

On another note, it looks like Acheng left the franchise.
