    Bengals (Matt) vs. Colts (me).
    17..... --- .....34

The beginning of the game was pretty scary for Matt. Twice there were bad calls on the field, but being the good coach he is, he red-flagged them... both getting overturned (much to my disappointment - hehe).
Both times I thought I'd hit the jackpot, only to see the ball go back and get marched down the field. The Bengals running att in the 1st quarter was nearly unstoppable. On my first possession I too marched down the field for a score. Matt's second possession got stopped short and he had to settle for a field goal.

From this point on, things kind of unraveled for the Bengals. On my next possession he pulled up coverage for close-in support which allowed me to get a pass down the line to Collie... taking it for a 74-yard TD. The subsequent drive, the Bengals gave up on their running game - moved to the air, which my guys promptly picked off.

The end of the second quarter, it could have been 21-10 if not for me being an idiot. I marched the ball down the field with the 2-minute drill. I felt good I was managing the clock so well. On his 5 yard line I called a timeout so I could plan my next two plays with 10 seconds left... only the timeout button didn't register. DOH!!!! So nearly in TD-land I was stunned to see the screen change to the half-time replays.

The start of the 2nd half the score is 14-10 and I was determined to make up for that lost TD. I did, and controlled the ball almost the entire 3rd quarter. Things got worse for Matt as Carson Palmer fumbled the ball and my fattest/slowest lineman picked it up and ran it in for a 40 yard TD.

    Post-game wrap-up:

Things would have been much different if the Bengals had stuck with their running game. Plus a few key blitzes I picked up left some receivers wide open for easy connections. Peyton Manning had a great game, making up for his abysmal showing last week against the Eagles, and my HB Joseph Addai finally broke the 50 yard mark for a single game.

    Okay, figuring the odds here...

    TEN 4-4 (1-0 div) vs IND 6-2 (2-1 div)

We have, coming up: WAS (4-4), TEX (2-5-1), JAX (2-6), IND, TEX, KC (4-4), IND.
Colts have: NE (2-6), SD (6-3), DAL (3-4-1), TEN, JAX, OAK (8-1), TEN

Cleveland and San Diego have the wildcard berths right now, so to be even in consideration for the post-season... the Titans have to basically win out for the rest of the season. Gee, no pressure. Win or go home, guys.

EDIT: AND we get to do it with, thanks to Miami, a completely crippled defense. In a movie, this is the part where the soundtrack swells and the heroic team gets a montage. Right now it makes me want to put my controller through a screen.

You know what's weird? I have the EXACT same 2 defenders out. My best two, and they're out even longer. Phooey.

Yeah, frustration is knowing that the post-season depends on your two games against the only human in your division - but there's three AI games in the way, and rolling over seems like it takes an eternity...

(I think I'm writing this correctly - sheesh we need spectator mode):

    Vikings vs. Bears
    2nd quarter:
    VegasLife (14) - Dalin Kal (3)

    3rd Quarter:
    VegasLife (14) - Dalin Kal (3)
    update...
    VegasLife (14) - Dalin Kal (10)
    update...
    VegasLife (21) - Dalin Kal (10)

    Currently 4th quarter...
    VegasLife (21) - Dalin Kal (10)

    Late 4th quarter still...
    VegasLife (21) - Dalin Kal (10)

    ==ok, not doing this again==

Looks like they got disconnected and restarted. My attempt at being a sportscaster thwarted.

Yeah...the first game got disconnected...no idea what happened. Vikings had the ball on a 3rd and long-ish with like 2:30 to go so it looked like I might be able to get a stop and try for a quick score then onside kick when it said my opponent left the game (it said I left the game to him) so we tried again.

Second game started the same way as the first. Bears drove down the field, but had to settle for a long FG. The Vikings responded with a solid drive heavy on run plays which ended with a TD pass. After that, the game got a bit goofy. A punt following a 3 and out left the Vikings on their 8 which meant the gameflow wanted to go for a long bomb on 1st down which lead to a sack. On 2nd down, the gameflow calls playaction...which leads to a safety. Nothing else really happens until the end of the 2nd quarter where the Bears got stuff on a 4th and goal from the one which lead to the Vikings driving down the field to score with seconds left in the half. On the ensuing kickoff, Hester broke through along the sideline to score which left the score 14 - 12 Vikings at the half.

Remainder of the game was a lot of close calls where long TD passes for the Vikings were barely batted down...several times they were batted into the hands of a different receiver who couldn't hold onto it. Bears got the go-ahead TS late in the 3rd and added and held on for the win.

Really close game overall. If you look at the stats, our offensive numbers were virtually identical.

As for this week, looks like I play Omni so let me know when you are available. Might be best to try and get it in tonight or tomorrow with the holiday coming up.

Let's try for tonight, then. Tuesday is MAG Night.

Besides that, though, the only night I'm not really available this week is Thursday. I'm only going about 20 miles away for Thanksgiving.

I just joined and took the Jets. Looks like I play Denoginizer this week. I'm currently unemployed, so almost any time is good for me, except for most of Thanksgiving day.

Watch out for this man, DK. His running backs put sheets of metal over their pads and swing batons at your linebackers' knees when the refs aren't looking. They are a bunch of injury-causing malcontents that give football a bad name.

Shame on you, Miami! Do you think you're the Raiders or something? Play clean!

They're just fired up 'cos Ronnie Brown went down the week before. Ricky Williams wants to prove he's a worthy successor.

Anyway, when the heck is Talisker gonna roll this thing?

Well, I avoided throwing my controller through the screen when the game froze up as I had a commanding 6 TD lead over the Redskins (thanks to knocking out McNabb on the first play with a neck injury) - so on the restart I immediately give up a TD. We answer with a great drive, get to the 1... but settle for a FG, figuring four points behind is better than seven.

They punt away, we drive and Vince Young throws an angry pass right over the middle, off the fingers of a Washington linebacker and right into the hands of a diving Bo Scaife to give us a 10-7 lead. They go three and out, punt it away. We go three and out, punt it to their one yard line. They call a draw play.

Let me repeat that. On the ONE YARD LINE, they call a draw play.

I had called a middle linebacker blitz.

12-7 after the safety and absolute obliteration of Clinton Portis.

The half follows, and we own the time of possession in the third quarter, nailing two 50+ yard field goals to make it an 18-7 game. But we're not going to get cocky, it's been McNabb to Thomas pretty successfully on the Washington drives.

And they make a decent drive, coming up for a field goal to make it 18-10. I fear every play here, thinking I could turn it over and a pick-six plus a 2pt conversion could send us into the dreaded OT zone. Chris Johnson breaks free for a huge run up the sideline, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, he's hit and FUMBLES. LeRon Landry flops onto it for the turnover.

Well, BALLS. This just got interesting.

They go three and out. 3:30 left and they punt... and Cortland Finnegan FUMBLES THE BALL! Thankfully he recovers at the 1, and runs up to the 16. Johnson up the middle to eat clock. Johnson again on the HB toss... open field! 25... 30... 35... 40... no fumble no fumble no fumble DON'T HIGH-STEP YOU GODDAMN JIVE TURKEY MOTHERFFFFFF....

TOUCHDOWN TENNESSEE, 76 yard run by Chris Johnson! 25-10!

2:35 to go, we could still screw this up. McNabb rushes for 5. Screen pass to Portis gets them 20. Cooley over the middle, another 12. They're in the hurry-up now. McNabb up the middle for another 4. Incomplete pass stops the clock to give them a rest. 5 yards for a false start, then Donovan's sacked for a loss of 6. They go for it on 4th! 1 minute left! I have visions of "Touchdown, onside kick recovered, touchdown" in my head.

Our pass rush decides to take this time to all fall down, giving Donovan McNabb an iron-clad bubble of protection to throw from. He skies it out to the corner, Moss is free, Moss is open, Moss is - what is that blue streak - INTERCEPTION, JASON McCOURTY!

A few perfunctory runs and a kneel end the game, as we squeak away with a 25-10 win that was a LOT closer than the score would indicate.

Vince Young goes 12/23 for 156 yards, a TD, and finally NO PICKS. 3 scrambles for a net 43 yards, also.
Chris Johnson, 18 carries for *215 yards* thanks to that insane 76 yard romp. 1 TD, 1 fumble. Add 5 catches for 45 yards to that total, thanks to my new love of the HB Screen. I just wish I had better blockers for him on that.

Our ace, though, was Rob Bironas, 3/3 on FGs with two 50+ yard sinkers.

Tennessee rises to 5-5, and just might not be dead in the water yet.

Heh - I was thinking the exact same thing. Ty, even though you're playing the AI, don't exploit it for mega-stats. Maybe I'm wrong, but most of us are still playing realistically in our AI games.

    Argh! We was robbed!

Which is to say, Henneeeeeeeeee! Don't throw a wounded duck INT for an 80-yard touchdown. Don't throw an INT on a last-second, would-be-game-winning Hail Mary to a good receiver with nothing but open field ahead.

And Troy Williamson, when I tell you to signal for the fair catch, signal for the fair catch! Don't cough it up at the 7.

Despite the defensive touchdowns (we got a Pick 6 as well), this was a pretty good game. Miami kept the Bears contained, for the most part, saved for a couple of great plays that resulted in 42 or so yards to Greg Olsen, and a 66-yard TD by Johnny Knox. We could have had this one.

I wish I'd saved some highlights, because there were some beauty plays. Like that Chicago interception return. Or the Chicago field goal that doinked off the crossbar.

Brandon Marshall got his yards in, but was effectively nullified in critical situations by Charles Tillman, who hovered over him like halitosis at a garlic festival. And we couldn't run the ball at all, because of Brian Urlacher.

Oh, well. We've played better games, but it was darn close for a good long while. If we had to lose, at least we went down fighting.

I see exactly how that looks. Mega stats or not, he is the only guy I can go to on that squad. I have a profound dislike for cheese, and despite his 8-10 catches a game, he still gets 20-25 carries and that's where I'm winning. I can honestly say I have not called a single screenpass all year.

I like to spread the ball around as much as the next dude, but seriously, you try gettin the ball down field with a rookie qb when your very best receiver is 5'11 has an 86 speed and has a 70 catch rating. If I have to watch another Brandon Gibson dropped pass in the endzone, I'm gonna have to start firing coaches.

just doing what bad teams do. Puttin the ball in the moneymaker's hands. But in the interest of keeping his TD total somewhere in the vicinity of possible, ill ease off him once i get into the redzone, and make one of these other pansies prove themselves.

So, I just joined as the Jets (2-7) but I haven't played a game yet. I'm thinking of switching to the Giants (4-5) who would be my preferred team in real life and still have an outside chance of making the playoffs, but who play in a division with fewer human players. Can I do this by quitting and rejoining, or do I have to get kicked out?
