What's with the insult Checkers?
I'm not sure about that. I had two gf's one time and while it had it's plusses, the minuses were pretty big and involved sharp objects being thrown.
Is he the guy who made the comment about coders being like gnomes in glittery caves or something? Because that has to be my favorite of all time.
I need to try some of these graphics mods, because the vanilla graphics I just realized aren't cutting it anymore for me. Too drab -- I think the new sunsets/sunrises are making everything else look kind of plain. I might start with Painterly.
I hope notch does implement some sort of modding interface, that would be excellent.
There's a poster who's linked to some wallpapers he's made in the AO thread , it's page eleven and the guy is called Crest .
How the hell did he get Minecraft to look like that ?
I understand he's added some effects like the blurring of distance but they look great . Any idea of what texture packs etc. he's using ?
I waded through the fucking cesspool of idiocy and incompetence that is the Minecraft forums to find the picture you were referencing:
Looks like post processing in Photoshop, not an actual screenshot. The ridiculous lens flare gives it away.
That's not the screenshots I meant but I suspect you're right anyway , check the ones that are linked just a few posts above , there seems to be a lot of effects added but it has a great look somehow .

I have notice that Minecraft have oceans.
Oceans are ugly and serve no purpose. So must be destroyed with TNT.
But is hard to generate TNT, so I have created a DNA modified seaweed that will grown in the sea and grown some tnt modules.
Heres a map with these changes.

On the process of creating that seaweed, I found a new type of Ice. I call it "ICE9".
Is more stable than ice at room temperature, so in contact with water, crystallize all water to ICE9

This solve the problem of Oceans once and for all.
Teiman, in real life are you a mad scientist? Growing any creatures in your basement?
I can only imagine if this game was ever Spore-like, where you could learn new tech to build space ships and jet off to other planets.
It wouldn't be long before someone solved the moon problem with TNT on Youtube.
LOL. Wait, how do you destroy oceans with TNT?
Well you blow up the water, obviously.
And then marry a second wife.
Focus on the game, Kava.
Busted
The Nether just suffers from what Minecraft suffers from overall to me. I still love the game but there isn't much point in the gameplay to going there. I think it is quite cool to combat the enemies in there but ATM there aren't any nice resources or anything despite being the most deadly place in the game by a huge factor. I had originally hoped it would have contained greater concentrations of metals and certain resources but at a much greater risk to obtain them.
Lightstone is pretty badass. As is mud.
When torches become temporary lightstone will matter your socks off.
http://zerror.com/mods/minecraft/overgrow2.zip..., so I have created a DNA modified seaweed that will grown in the sea and grown some tnt modules.
With this, the oceans will be colonized by a agresive seaweed that spawn tnt nodes. Since his grown is soo fast, it generate heat... the dehidrated seaweed will fire, the tnt modules will trigger... the resulting chain reaction will destroy all the seaweed, so theres only a crater left. The chain reaction is finne tunned so is slow enough so you can do other things while the sea is behing destroyed in a apocalypsys.
Is a tiny 4 lines mod.
Patch notes for 1.2.1:
Minecraft Alpha 1.2.1, Minecraft Server 0.2.3
The server update is not mandatory, but you might want to update just to make sure.
This is a bugfixes only update:
* Signs on the sides of cacti no longer crash the game
* The player won’t get stuck on the top of the world in multiplayer
* Reverted mob spawning back to the old code, it was far to annoying. I have plans on what to do with this.
* Fixed the leaf particle colors
* Reduced CPU usage for monster spawning, but there’s still a lot of work to be done to reduce lag on SMP servers.
* Attempted to fix the portal dupe bug where you could exit through a different (new) one than the one you entered through.
About the portals, it’s possible that two portals can lead to the same portal in the Nether. This is because the space down there is compressed by a factor of 8, and I haven’t come up with a good way to fix this yet.
I might just end up doing an explicit one-to-one binding between portal pairs, but that’s nontrivial as it should survive the portal being temporarily destroyed. If you TNT a portal then rebuild it, you’d expect it to still lead to the same place, right?
Hmm.
More bug updates are coming next week, mainly related to survival mode multi player.
[edit:]
Client 1.2.1_01 fixes armor. And I forgot to mention that Music will play in multiplayer now as well.
On his twitter he says that leaf decaying will not be coming back, as he's working on an alternate system.
Leaf decay is how I get saplings. I don't want to sit there whacking at leaves.
I kinda liked the insane mob spawning in the regular world (insane pigmen are another matter).
Anyone try re-entering a portal since the update?
Excellent. I got stuck up there on the mp server last night. The player won’t get stuck on the top of the world in multiplayer
Argh, can't place water in the Nether at all. Insta-evaporates no matter where you drop it.
I'm at a big LAN and we're having a minecraft building contest. This is my entry:

Awesome - next one build in the sky with lava coming down like it's jumpjet trail.
