I felt the same way about the removal of the 85mm from the T-28, but I'm hoping that it's meant to balance the new tier spreads?

    Noooooo! My SU-85!

I mean, I haven't been playing much World of Tanks lately, and I certainly can't see myself spending much time on it at all once Mechwarrior Online is done, but still! The SU-85 was good because of the 107, not because of anything else.

Wait what? NOOOOOOOO! I love my SU-85 because it can use what I came to call The Russian Gun. I stopped in the russian TD tree at it because it had the 107 and I hate all the SU-100 guns in comparison. The other day I got 7 glorious kills with it (and my team still lost)! I also still have my T-28 for occasional lols just because of its gun. I guess this means I'll have free slots in my garage after the next patch.

Same for me on the T-28. I sure hope they don't nerf my Hellcat M18 next.

They nerfed the Hellcat before they released it.

The loss of a fast turning turret is rather sad, given that AIUI historically that was one of the things it was known for. But it does have an over-gunned 90mm (although I suppose everything in the game is over-gunned).

I assume the movement accuracy nerfs in the last patch are to prevent people from trying to play Hellcat as a light tank, which I find rather curious. Is it actually effective to play a Hellcat like that? I see a lot of Hellcat drivers charging directly in at the start of a battle, rather than playing sniper. From the play I've seen it seems quite ineffective (usually resulting in a dead Hellcat shortly after play starts). Analytically, I just don't see how that could be a better style of play than sniping because of the Hellcat's weak armor. Am I missing something here? I guess I could see it working in end-game when there aren't that many tanks left. I did have one game where it ended up being my Hellcat against a KV-5 and I won by racing across to the other side of the map and capping before he managed to lumber up to our base.

Playing the M18 like a light was a complete failboat. No idea why they thought they had to nerf things, but they go far too much on W/L records so that was what they went with. Its a powerful tank with its ability to reposition, but honestly I would've preferred a tank with a smaller gun and its proper turret rotation in a lot of cases.

Interesting. I didn't realize that the nerfs were directly associated with tanks W/L records, although that certainly makes sense now that you mention it.

I'm of the opposite opinion. I could (and did) live with the slow turret traverse as long I had the 90mm. That gun turns the vehicle into something far more useful than a glorified Sherman E8.

How disappointing. Two of my superpimped tanks to be gimped. My T-28 and SU-85 with rammer, vents, GLD + supercrew both to be binned :/

You know, having thought a little more about this, I think this has the opportunity to be a really positive change. The T-34-85 and SU-85 are both named after their historic primary armaments, yet no one with any sense fields them this way.

I've been playing long enough to stop caring, but it has always been a little silly how most of the game's tanks carry ahistoric guns. Fixing this would be good thing. And given the indications that the tier spreads will be changed and the 85mm gun will be rebalanced, it may not even end up being a nerf.

All the way down to page four? tsk!

I was at the Imperial War Museum in London today, had a good look at a real life jagdpanther, a T34-85 in conspicuously pristine condition, a churchill and the tank we know as the M3 lee. The latter is huge. Like a big mobile house. also looks eminently impractical as a fighting vehicle, but what do i know, they did awesome in the desert against pz2 and pz3's.

The most striking thing about the jagdpanther is how big it is. its even larger than the M3, and dwarfs the T34. Another thing that struck me is the width of its tracks, about as wide as the T-34's, showing the jerries were quick to adapt things that worked. The gun was massive. that breech block looks every bit as heavy as the one on a comparable naval gun. Impressive sight. The three small holes in its lower side right where its ammo was stored formed a subtle yet stark reminder of this things' terrible past.

    You guys want pics?

    I second the hell yes!

I was playing some Company of Heroes earlier today and got a jagdpanther out. My british opponent tried to counter it with several tetrarchs. I couldn't help but think, "you noob, you can't take out a tier 7 with a bunch of tier 2's, they're just going to bounce." Which of course, they did.

It's a pretty nice museum, and I remember the jagdpanther well - there was one hole in its armor that kinda left me speechless - to think of the force necessary to blow such a clean hole through the armor....

    K guys, here you go:

    Look ma, toy tanks!

Impossibly well made, i find it hard to believe this thing is real, the welds and cuts are so fine and precise. A very far cry from the IS-2 I photographed at Overloon

    random chick with huge pussy

    the drivers' windscreen

BamBamBam (this baby got outflanked bad)

Awesome pics--the jagdpanther in particular looks truly fearsome. I wonder what weapon(s) made those four penetrating hits?

It doesn't matter. They went right through and did no damage.

Dude they were criticals straight in the F'ing ammo rack. That thing cooked the F off.

Look closely and see the semicircular cartridge holders. Right where the holes are. 88mm huge bastard cartridges as well lol. Dude that shot it shure knew exactly where to hit. Kinetic penetrators for shure, no evidence of the sort of melting you'd expect from a shaped charge (HEAT) round. Probably a sherman, maybe a firefly?

    Great pics, Shurem. Thank you.

That JagdPanther looks absolutely beautiful from the front. And I have to agree, that T-34/85 looks like a toy - almost certainly touched up more than a bit.

And now I'm wondering if the M3 Lee really was the inspiration for the Daleks. :)

Oh, tank pics. This is the Desert Rats War Memorial. A Cromwell, perfect for flanking that Jagdpanther above.

Maybe a 17lber but looks more like 90s or 100s; those are pretty big holes.

Probably a 75mm. 17pdr is only 76mm anyway, so its not like there would be a huge difference just looking at them.

Maybe, it's hard to tell from the angles. But those sure look large-ish. Guess it doesn't matter to the poor sods who were in there....

I'd imagine that only one of the holes was original, and the rest were put there in penetration testing. Four penetrating hits to nearly the same spot is wildly improbable in battle.

Still not good news for the guys inside, though.
