Some fun images in the post, and you can now quantitatively visualize @notch's twitter influence.
Chris
Thats great. You are a great person, you have this skill to respect everyone, not matter what. So is great to see you having this success.
At first I was a bit, well.. the webpage of the game is too "serius". Is more the webpage of a scientist of the CERN talking about budgets and radiators, than about a game.
Not only you are a good person, but your are advancing gaming for all of us. This experiment of you, is like I+D for everyone, big and small game studios. If you accidentally find a awesome gameplay, not doubts everyone will jump to make a game using such gameplay, but bigger, badder graphics, huge budget.
I was wondering how you could access your public, or what is your public. But seems the indie networks are mature enough nowdays, so you can make a game, and get in the right channels (websites like tigsource), and from there, people will talk about your game if theres something newsworthy in it.
Do SpyGame works online, on internet?
Something that can be interesting, is to create a website, so players can meet. Maybe some basic "IM" system, so the game can be minimized, but pooling the server for players. If you game want to be social, you can actually built some social features in the game. Things so player A (that don't have friends that want to play the game) meet player B (that don't have friends that want to play the game).
It can also be interesting, maybe you don't want to go there, what could be the potential of your game for trolling.

If you don't want to go there, at least maybe let the game be "abusable" in a way that can be fun for people creating hilarious trolling videos. That way, well... hundreds will play your game, but millions will enjoy your game trought youtube videos. I think, IMHO, is a good idea to make something in a game that is sexy for journalist, and something that is sexy for trollers.
Sorry about my poor english.

So...how about a SpyParty update, checker? (and a beta code, plz! :))
Currently drowning in server code madness. I'm currently just concentrating on getting the first 10 people invited, and not worrying about making it scalable yet, just to stay sane. Hopefully a couple weeks, but then again, I also said mid-June. I'm not known for my estimation accuracy!
Chris
There's a lobby, and all kinds of other stuff. I'm (foolishly) trying to make the beta a somewhat modern networked game environment. More details here on the insanity:

Chris
Is it too late to get on the beta test bandwagon for this? :) Been sorta following it loosely through the forums here for a while. Would love to give you a write up once the game releases Chris :)
Thanks, and no, it's not too late, nobody's in yet since I'm way behind! You can sign up at http://spyparty.com/beta-sign-up
Chris
I posted some info on the blog about pricing for the Early-Access Beta. The credits idea was totally stolen from qt3's own DanVersson!
SpyParty Early-Access Beta Pricing
I still have so much work to do, and PAX fast approaches...yikes...
Chris
New update.
C'mon, checker. Quit hogging the game.
I'll be checking my inbox and junk mail folder way too often from now on, waiting for my beta invite :(
I'll do a batch of qt3/bf folks soon after I've done some off the main list (people in this thread pm me the email address you used to sign up for the beta (bf people can pm me there, I'm checker as well)). I gotta start inviting people off the signup list in order or they'll kill me for playing favorites!
Chris
Cheers Chris, I think I signed up really early but I can't find my reply email. The site says I'm already confirmed though.
Yaay! :DOriginally Posted by e-mail from checker
I keep hoping one of the new Tom vs/ Bruces will be SpyParty.
Ack, serling getting an invite through the normal script and posting here reminded me I never send the invites to the folks who PM'ed me, which included serling! So, JPR, pilonv1, rossm, and Anti-Bunny, check your email!
If anybody else wants an invite, PM me the email you used to sign up for the beta.
Thanks!
Chris
Thanks, Chris.
Woohoo! Thanks! Now I can't wait until I get home from my Wed boardgame night tonight. :)
awww yes! Another beta to play! :)
Thanks Chris, I've loved this from the first mention of the concept
