Seriously, Marcus? Is it okay for folks browsing with wives and daughters in the room? Is that work safe? Can you call that up on a computer when you're browsing the internet at your job?
I didn't think so.
The rest of the internet is over that way. Tell it I said 'hi'.

Did you slow it down, blow it up to a larger than normal size, and then post it to the screens of everyone browsing Qt3?
Look, I like to think you guys can be tasteful and restrained. If you can't, just pretend your grandmother is sitting behind you watching you post. If your grandmother was some salty old lady who ran a brothel or something, then just pretend it's a random nun. Maybe one with fairly liberal sensibilities, but a nun nonetheless.
We're a forum of adults, many of whom browse with wives and children in the room. We're not a junior high locker room, we're not ElGuapo's hot tub, and we're not NeoGAF. You can go to any of those places to get your fix of hurr hurr boobies, although I should warn you that it's going to be a bit awkward if you go into a junior high locker room at your age. Have the phone number of a lawyer handy.

That's the best explanation I've ever heard for why your idea of what this forum should be is doomed to failure.
The main issue with Marky Mark's gif was it's size. It was too big to be so sexy. If you look closely at the last gif I posted you might notice a potentially NSFW poster. But you gotta be really trying to notice it.
To continue pulling the string, I'd say intent would make a difference also, if the gif was made from clever editing of an actual shake weight advertisement then Ha Ha. If it was just a sexy chick making faces it loses "street cred".

Wow, glad I missed Marcus' post. ;)
BobJustBob, when I hang out with my friends, we act one way when we're at my house. We act a slightly different way when we're in a public place where other people can hear and see us.
All that I'm asking is that you guys try to lean a bit towards the latter. If that d0mes Qt3, then I'm happy for Qt3 to be d0med.

It really wasn't that big of a deal. It was an image of a woman in a leotard shaking some sort of goofy workout product that, I presume, is designed to make women's breasts jiggle. It was considerably larger than the other images folks have been posting and it was in slow motion. I'd say it ranked somewhere between MatthewF's gif of a reindeer sodomizing a child or MattKeil's gif of a dude blowing his brains out onto the wall behind him.

I believe it is a gerenuk.
Between those? Really?
That was pretty tame, as far as I could see. Awwwriiight and fake snuff are much worse than a shakeweight, which I see advertised all the damn time on TV. It's not exactly explicit material, it's just funny.
Tim, leave space in the tub for me, would you? I'll have to borrow some guest trunks from Guapo, but it's all good.
Uh...there haven't been any release parties in ElG's tub, right?
Tom, can we assume since you're discussing it that it's safe to discuss the image as a banning threshold publicly, or should people stick to e-mails and PMs over it?
(It wasn't slow-mo, btw, yours just hadn't finished loading yet.)

I have no problem discussing what is and isn't appropriate to post in these forums. If it's unclear, then we should definitely have that discussion.
How it relates to bannings, however, is between me and whomever is banned for posting inappropriate gifs (at this point, exactly no one). If you guys have any questions or concerns about banning stuff, you're welcome to email or PM me.

You know what'd be great? If we had like...a thread for that kind of thing.
Yeah, because that worked out so well, didn't it?
-Tom
Just wanted to make sure. Glad I asked.
I think it's going to be a tough thing to figure out why in particular that .gif was inappropriate. She's fully clothed and it's from a television ad. Is it the knowing look that makes it unsafe? Jiggling boobs? Generally speaking, I think if something is safe to be shown on network television, it should be safe for the forums. Anything more strict than that seems a bit ridiculous.
I don't think that the "wife/daughter in the room" angle is really worth pursuing, and it sounds a bit silly and white knight-ish, honestly. Just because they're women doesn't mean they object to sexuality, and protecting the children from things they see on QT3 means we should probably install profanity filters and stop certain posters altogether.
Marcus' image certainly skirts the line of NSFW, but it seems to land on the safe side for most people. I don't necessarily disagree with you removing it.
Oh, and:

Well I'm still glad I missed it, as that's an ungentlemanly thing to look at.
Really, Frank? Are you that tone deaf? Or are you just not reading my posts in the thread? As I noted, it was considerably larger than the other gifs folks are posting, and it was in slow motion. It was obviously a leering hurr hurr boobies image. Do you dispute that? The black dudes (is that from The Wire?) and Clint Eastwood certainly don't.
I have no idea what this has to do with anything, but if you'd like to start a thread about women and sexuality, I'd be happy to check it out.Originally Posted by frank austin
Then I'm not sure why we're having this conversation. What part of "if your image skirts the line of NSFW, either don't post it or check with Tom before you do" are you having trouble with? Because that's been part of the forum rules for as long as I can remember.Originally Posted by frank austin

Yes, it did. It was a healthy place to vent about your unilateral bannings and other such actions that not everyone agrees with. And then unnamed (but easily guessed) people whined about people being mean or whatever, and now that's gone and the venting is spilling out into threads such as this one. This is one of my favorite threads. I don't want it to get locked, but that's where this is headed. You can still have a grandmother-safe forum while telling the whiners to stay out of one specific thread if they have a problem with it.
No one is going to lock this thread. I love it, too, and I want to keep it around. But please be conscientious when you're posting images. It's not that hard to do.
And if you'd like to discuss how I run the forum, then contact me directly instead of using this thread to do it.
