Which has faster read speed, an old SD card or USB 1.1?

I own an older Oppo universal disc player with a card reader and a USB port. The card reader doesn't read SDHC, and the USB port is only 1.1.

When I use the USB port to watch a movie off a flash drive, the sound frequently unsyncs, and when there's something fast and complicated onscreen like a moving starry sky or an explosion the video and sound go hippety-skippety.

So if I buy an old SD card, will that have more read speed than a USB 1.1 and so prove less of a bottleneck?

Depends what it uses to transfer the SD card data to the system's processor. Typically it is USB in a PC's card reader, so the bottleneck is the same. Not sure what your disc player is.

Hmmm, good point --- I bet they're the same device. Thanks!
