And McElroy has lost. That's all I wanted. Let's see if the guy crumbles.

Okay Oregon and Boise State, don't screw up now, I want to see you play for the MNC. I love the SEC (even though I hate almost every team in it, I'm so conflicted!), but I would love to see some fireworks from those teams in a head to head matchup.

Oregon seems to have lost 1/2 it's team to injury so far against WSU :(

I cannot believe they only mentioned his "not losing since 8th grade" only once....right before he lost. My wife is a fan so I was only laughing on the inside. I really thought that safety and the subsequent score by Alabama was going to lead to yet another momentum swing and win for the Tide.

As an aside, I am sick to puking of every commentator during, before after and at half using the phrase "in-space". I had heard it used sparingly prior to this season, but now you hear it 4 times during one commentators thoughts on one player.

I'm laughing... at the... superior intellect.

Finally 'bama put on it's ass. BCS thrown wildly into the air. It's a good day.

Heh, Oregon State wins a squeaker against Arizona. James Rodgers hurt his knee, though. Could be out for the season...

LSU's unlikely success is the best proof that Voodoo is real. Luckiest damn team in the nation.

I don't think this will help LSU fans' football-induced problems with alcohol.

LSUFreek made this for last Saturday's Les Miles Insane-O-Rama, but the metahpysical chaos known as Les Miles is universal, so it applies this week as well.

Okay, I have a rules question. I tuned into the LSU-FLA game while they were reviewing the lateral from the holder to the other guy and was confused. I thought forward passes were only a concern past the line of scrimmage. The holder was behind the line of scrimmage when he attempted to lateral it to the other guy, right? Or is there a special rule when your passer is your holder?

Any forward movement of the ball in the air is a forward pass, no matter where it happens. Otherwise, every dump off pass to the RB behind the line of scrimmage that's incomplete would be a live ball.

So if the ball hadn't hit the ground, there wouldn't have been an issue? The question is whether it was an incomplete forward pass or a bobbled but live lateral?

It the ball had hit the ground forward of where the toss began it would have been an incomplete pass.

If a lateral hits the ground it's a live ball.

I like the ESPN frontpage: a picture of Les with the caption, "Who's Mad Now?"

    Err... still Les Miles.

So the Wisconsin head coach has somehow managed to step up and make Lane Kiffen seem like a decent human being by comparison.

He made a dickish call to go for two points with a huge lead at the end of the game for no apparent reason.

Phillip Fulmer said on the CBS recap that there must be something else going on, like a recruiting issue, that made him do that. It was an asshole call no matter the reason, and I wish the Minnesota coach had punched the Wisconsin coach in the face at the end instead of giving him a rude handshake/brushoff.

Did Lane Kiffin do that? Jim Harbaugh did against USC last year.

Pete Carroll did something similar to UCLA because Neuheisel stupidly called a time out at the end of a game that did nothing except make the game last longer. USC was in the red zone and instead of taking a knee, promptly scored a meaningless TD. Neuheisel was livid but it was completely his fault.

Yeah, I have no problem with that. Lou Holtz did it at NC State, though I forget the opponent. His rationale was that if they're calling a timeout, he must think the game is winnable, and we have to do our utmost to put it out of their reach.

Somebody explain to me the logic of ranking South Carolina behind Alabama in this weeks polls?

Since when are the polls that reactive? Besides, Alabama is still arguably the better team for the season on the whole based on who they've beaten.

Plus, Bama has a slightly better won/loss percentage at this stage.

All I care is that Alabama is ranked lower than Auburn. :)

SC's victory wasn't just a fluke or some miracle last second play. Alabama was dominated on both sides of the ball. Their rushing attack with a Heisman winner could gain something like 50 yards. SC's defensive line pushed Alabama's offense all over the place and managed six sacks.

Alabama's defense was also exposed. SC's quarterback only had three incomplete passes for the entire game, and they also managed to rush for over a hundred yards at the same time.

Alabama still has a lot of talent but they were soundly beaten yesterday, so I'm guessing that's why some folks think Alabama is inferior to South Carolina.

They were seconds away from being a two-loss team. None of their other wins look that great in retrospect (Penn St. and Florida have both fallen off).

Exactly my point: Alabama was thoroughly beaten in that game. They were outmuscled, outcoached and outplayed. There is no way, on THIS weekend, that SC is the lesser team. The polls are a joke in that respect.

And Boise is looking a little better having beaten Oregon State, which beat Arizona, a BCS contender (and ranked #9 at the time).

Typical Oregon State move - lose early and get it together late in the season to play Pac-10 spoiler. The Civil War could be really interesting this year (it was fantastic last year).

Holy crap, Hawaii is averaging 421 pass yards per game so far. What I assumed would be a dismal season is actually turning out pretty well for them so far. Big game at home against Nevada next week.
