Let's see, I was always told journalistic writing for mass media should target the sixth grade reading and analysis level.

I really shudder to think what that is these days.

(Of course it's CNN, so it also has to be written so Ted can understand it, which probably explains a lot.)

Ted is still there - on the AOL/TW board, IIRC - and apparently still has heavy influence (if not outright control anymore) at CNN.
