Her disappointment at being blocked from exiting the explosion wasn't exactly the act of someone panicking with a clear conscience either, and could be read as a rueful 'all well, my fault I guess.'
Well yeah, but she was in the Stormcage for killing someone, "The best man I ever knew," which many believe would have been The Doctor, or at the very least a ploy to make it seem like The Doctor.

The more I think of it, the more Omega would make sense particularly given one of the male actors appearing in next weeks episode.

Much as Romana returning in the form of Amy or Amy somehow being a female time lord would be neat I can't see it happening as it would kinda be too problematic to the basic dynamic of the show nowdays.

The last episode was entertaining, although I agree that having the "superteam" of enemies just seemed more like a fan convention plot than anything sensible, especially when you throw in the Silurians, extra-dimensional Cybermen, etc.

But it made very little sense. In fact, my overall impression of this story, and really the entire season and future under this crew, will be hugely dependent upon how well the season finale works out. If it's more incoherent gibberish I'll be ready to write off the show other than for nostalgia's sake -- even though I still think the season was an improvement over the last full season, and I like Matt Smith a lot, and the season is ending stronger than it began -- but it's just not living up to the high expectations set by Moffat's previous contributions to the show and I'm finding its flaws and illogical conventions increasingly tiresome.

    Are we reviewing the season?
I liked it quite a bit.

I'm hoping that what we get at the end of this episode is the big-bad for the next season.
That would be a nice change of pace, and would head off another season of cryptic utterances, which I'm getting a bit bored by.

This has been the prevailing speculation. Omega seems to be one of the favorite suspects so far.

I'm in total agreement here. I've liked this season for the most part, and while it's been uneven, when it's been good it's been really good.

I also like Smith more than Tennant. Yeah, I said it. ;)

I don't like that I agree with Brian Rubin about a television show. Next I'll be agreeing with MSUSteve about Jensen Ackles being dreamy.

NO GOOD CAN COME OF THIS!

This will probably be amusing to any fans of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy television series.

That is truly some great stuff. I love Davros' football career:

    Skaro Orient: Striker
    Kaled United: Right Winger
    Kaled Wednesday: Midfield
    Aston Villa: Striker
    Bunker 1: Striker
    Bunker 1: Goalkeeper

Good gravy, now you make me want to go home and watch that sucker frame by frame. I kept thinking to myself, 'What must Rod Lord think of this'?

    I was just being snarky...

If you're not reading bleedingcool.com, that have some really great Doctor Who coverage, but they're pretty liberal with the spoilers when they get 'em. And they do get them.

Which is why I don't read them, since the series is like 3 episodes behind in the US. :)

You should avoid this thread too then, as people tend to talk about the aired UK episode pretty openly.

Wow, he really nailed the style. Nice touch using those live action shots from the DW story in which Oolon Colluphid is referenced.

And now it is mine. Thanks to you and Athryn! Love the other image, as well, especially the Sarah Jane owl in the striped overalls.

well, I'm still a few episodes behind, but I saw a few more.

Poor Rory. I kinda liked him for the nervous boyfriend companion. Poor bloke gets zapped and hit by the time crack thing.

Vampires was fun. Amy's Choice I like also.

Now this is how you end a season and resolve a story arc. Great stuff.

One minor major spoiler: there's no RTD style deus ex machina anywhere in sight.

    "Goodbye!"

Lots of lovely timey wimey stuff too.

Bleh, just saw the final episode. I thought it was plain rubbish. Without spoiling it, i think the way the universe and the doctor were brought back was plain stupid. Very disapointing. Light and memory..bleh

    *SPOILERS*

    I enjoyed it.

The big fantasy thing that they were asking you to swallow in the finale was that by believing something hard enough you could override bad time and space hard sciency stuff. Which has been the fundamental selling point of Doctor Who for a good while now. The writers also had the good sense to continually tell you about this huge thing they were asking you to suspend your disbelief on all the way through the season so that when it actually happens at the end you are completely primed for it. If this had been pre-moffat that suprise would have been unveiled during the episode as it happened and the doctor would have probably reappeared in a much more glowy effects 'I am time jesus' style.

It was great to see a show that was prepared to integrate the season plot back across the whole set of episodes and mess around with time travel and paradoxes in mildly challenging ways for a change. I love that Rory is still alive, still in the TARDIS and that neither him, Amy or the Doctor are moping around. I love that they left some mysteries lingering for next season or the Christmas Special. I love that the finale didn't even have a main villain in it at all.

Loved it! As said above, it's just fantastic that we get to keep Amy and Rory. And the Doctor too, for that matter. I was expecting him to regenerate, and for the 11th and 12th Doctors to have some tension over who is the real one of the repaired timeline.

Also, "It's a fez. I wear a fez now. Fezzes are cool!", followed by Amy and River's coordinated assault on poor fashion sense, is officially my favorite gag of the entire revived series.

I liked it and though it was one of the better season finales but I do think it went a bit too heavy on the paradoxes.

"I was plastic. He was the stripper at my stag."

    SPOILERS

Honestly, this thing could have ended with the Teddy Bears of Time swooping in to save the universe with a frisson of Love, and I would have been satisfied as long as Rory got to stay onboard the TARDIS. I wonder whether Moffat, et al. always planned for Rory to stick around or if they reconfigured his role once he turned out to be a popular character (assuming that he is; I have no idea if anyone likes him as much as I do).

Exactly. Some of RTDs ideas weren't that loony; it's just that they came out of nowhere at the last second, which always made them feel like a cheat. Here, the paradoxes were nutty, but they actually came together in a pretty convincing fashion over the course of a few episodes. They telegraphed the memory thing so far in advance that even when it made the Cheese-o-meter explode ("Something...BLUE."), I was still able to enjoy it. Even though it didn't entirely make sense. (Did River remember the Doctor? If so, how? If not, why give the book to Amy?)

I am really looking forward to next season. Now that we have an honest-to-goodness married couple as companions, I don't see Amy macking on the Doctor or Rory hitting the road. Plus, they've put in motion several mysteries that should be fun to see play out. (Who is Mr. Disembodied Voice? Where exactly did the TARDIS go that the exterior was blocked by stone? What is the deal with River Song?)

I'd give the season a solid B overall. Hopefully, Moffat & Co. will continue to find their feet in Eleven's second go round.
