One needs only to look at KOTOR or Jade Empire to see what spaceflight would be in ME3: a lame minigame.

For what it's worth, I agree that the Mako had some value, particularly in the main quest. It was just really badly implemented - controlled like shit, handled like shit. If they were to implement something like the Mako but, y'know, actually fun to drive, that'd be A-ok by me. Similarly, the worst part of the unexplored worlds in ME1 wasn't the Mako, per se (though it hurt things), but the horrible genericism.

EA owns Origin's IP, you know. And with ME3 ending the trilogy, it's perhaps time to look at ways to extend the BioWare IP....

JEFF GREEN! Quick! Have your evil overlord masters at EA hire me to design/produce Mass Effect: Privateer! I promise to make a game that everyone except Tom will love.

I'd really like to be able to easily use more powers- but the 360 controller only has so many buttons. I haven't played that many 360 games, are there ways to allow streamlined use of say 5 skills?

Sure, I think they left out X and B for combat powers. I don't recall using them much when I was fighting. That would give you five power buttons (LB, RB, X, B, and Y (always your class power))

So what is the word on the hover craft lading thing? Is it coming out? Will it be part of some larger dlc? I can't imagine that they have all the planetary stuff ready for it....

B is the riflebutt/pistolwhip button. I use it all the time as a Vanguard.

Charge - Shotgun - Riflebutt! Gets 'em every single time.

    ah, I don't change weapons that often so I haven't used B.
I guess the PS3 has an extra pair of triggers, is that right?
By the way how did Dragon Age on the xbox handle power use? I'd hate to play that with only 3 powers!

My sentinel has finally got some decent headway in to the game and i do almost use one power constantly.

Yes, it is the previously mentioned and seemingly way overpowered biotic, Reaver. Playing on veteran, it pretty much means the death of any non boss, non krogran that just has a health bar. You can pretty much cast it from behind cover and it only needs a second to hit, then you can go back behind cover as they die. Many fights just boil down to me ducking behind and then avenging my dead squad by going out of cover for a second to cast reaver and then repeating. The only time i use other abilities is when i recast my extremely fun tech shield armor or i'm fighting robots and decide to use overcharge. If it has shields, normally it is just faster to touch it with my smg and then reaver, reaver, reaver. Reaver kind of makes every other biotic look useless in comparison sadly. the damn thing even seems to fear/confuse/whatever organics without shields (like fire).

Sentinel is a pretty scary class. I'd like to say it has the either the best or the 2nd best survivability/damage (with infiltrator again being the 1st or 2nd best class), but then i haven't played any other class to higher levels.

When i play through again (after finishing of course) as a renegade, going to make sure i don't take reaver.

On the 360, pulling the left trigger switched the powers on the quickslots. You could have 6 total that way.

I'm playing a Soldier and with close to 500 health, the Revenant machine gun with Inferno/Cryo ammo and Adrenaline Rush you simply don't want to be in front of me. I took Fortification as my Special, since I honestly don't need anything more to put the hurt on the enemy.
Reave (on Samara) hasn't impressed me so much so I'd call it overpowered or rendering all other biotics useless. Anything without armor, shields and barriers dies quickly from assault gun or sniper fire and Pull kills mostly anything too. On Veteran you kill 3-4 LOKI mechs in one Adrenaline Rush with either LMG or Sniper fire. By midgame I think you're pretty badass with any class, or rather as soon as you learn how to play to your powers.

I approve of letting me use a LMG in space. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrap.

Free Dr. Pepper code for in-game loot!

    CBEEAAA41NWH

    Everyone can use it once.

    1) Visit the Dr. Pepper website and sign up.

    2) Input the code into the promotions area.

    3) Choose your in-game loot.

Edit: When the Dr. Pepper site asks for where you got the code, pick "16 oz," "Other," and "Dr Pepper"

    Edit2: Here are more codes!

    CBEEAAAE4L9N
    CBEEAAAFQG9J
    CBEEAAAE98ZV

You can use only one code per Dr Pepper sign-in, so create fake sign-ins each time. Dr Pepper doesn't check and you'll get less spam! Just make sure you're signed into the right EA/BioWare account.

In ME2 it was often blatantly a case of Cut-scene, Room, Fight, Room, Fight, Room, Fight, Cut-scene.
ME2 is very nonlinear, as was ME1. However, it's in a place where people apparently don't expect to see it. When you are standing at the galaxy map in the Normandy CIC, you can go to any star system available to you. You can zoom in to any cluster, and then fly to any star within that cluster. There are no strings attached, other than some systems unlock only halfway through the game. The only limit is fuel, which is so cheap it might as well be free.

Highly recommend people that completed it play it again on Insane, it's tough but fun. The bonuses and Reave make it liveable.

There's a loading screen tip that says you can buy starmaps from vendors to unlock new places to explore. I'm 31hrs into the game and haven't seen any starmaps - did they get cut or withdrawn to sell as DLC or something?

They're in there. I think there's a vendor on Omega and a vendor in the Citadel and maybe one of Illium. The maps are super-cheap and they just appear as a new system you can plot a course to on the star map.

I bought 3 of 4 maps from a vendor in one of the cities/bases- not Omega, but I don't remember which of the others it was.

I only ever found one on Illium. Where did you find the ones on the Citadel and on Omega?

Ah, I haven't been to Illium yet, it's the last area for me to explore before the endgame.

I've only seen star maps on Illium as well.

I'm a little over 32 hours in and just finished the penultimate character's loyalty mission. Very enjoyable. I'm trying to clean up the remaining N7 missions before I plunge into what I think is going to be the beginning of the end of the story missions. It's going to be bittersweet when I finally finish the game, but I'm glad that Bioshock 2 is coming to provide some comfort.

A question for those using assault rifles. What do you use? I continue to use the (now fully upgraded) base rifle because of its large ammo capacity. I have found a more powerful, but less accurate rifle (as part of a story mission) that I've not used much due to said inaccuracy.

I need to remember to look up what the melee button is on PC. Strange that in a game that will frequently remind me of controls I memorized a week ago (yes, I fucking know left mouse launches a probe. I haven't done it because I haven't found the right spot. Aaaargh!), it never bothered to teach me that one.

If you get the assault rifle accuracy update, it cures that problem quick-smart.

It's F, I think. Not that my fingers ever remember that when they need to, like when a Turian dude is shooting me in the face with shotgun and the screen is all covered in veins or whatever the hell that stuff is supposed to be.

I've fully upgraded assault rifles, but haven't tried that special gun since doing so. I'm going to give it another shot (pun!) this evening.
