    The Solium Infernum PBEM Megathread.

Just to keep it all in one place.

Can we get a Complaining About [Solium Infernum] Threads Subforum?

This is unlikely to work as a specific game thread allows useful information to be easily accessible in the OP rather than in the middle somewhere, plus the threads are Entity-approved (actually Entity-suggested).

    Nice try though.

What's the take on sub-forums though?

Would love to have a subforum for the PBeM games for SI and Dom3, which seem to be most active here with the crowd.

The take is that people wail about needing a new sub-forum every few months when a new game gets a little out of control, and you are probably going to get mocked for this post by the less kind members.

If Tom made a new sub-forum every time a game had more than 5 threads on the front page there would either be about 20-30 subforums by now or he'd have a lot of work to do adding them and then removing them when they stop recieving posts.

I've never understood how anyone keeps games straight in the Dom3 megathread. I'd say that a subforum for PBeM games would make sense. (One forum for all games, of course--separate forums for each game-of-the-month would be silly.)

Dominions players are more intelligent. They have no trouble keeping each game straight no matter how convoluted the thread gets.

It's still probably not worth it. Right now of the 40 threads displaying on my front page there are 5 game threads and one thread complaining about it. There are 16 games total going plus I think maybe 2 games that organized themselves. Maybe there are a whole crapload of Dom3 games going but it doesn't seem to be enough to warrant a sub-forum.

I think I just figured out the one thing that Google wave would be good for. Of course a just posting a new thread for each new game would be good too. It's not like there's a limit on threads or anything is there?

Yes there is, and Charles just cost us a space that we could have used for another SI game!

In all seriousness I really doubt there is a limit on number of threads in vBulletin software, although of course there is the limit of whatever server is storing the site's memory but I can't imagine that filling up any time soon due to simple text and user information.
