Looks like it's another bonus xp weekend on the server.
This is one of those things that I was happily surprised to see they changed. Only thing is that they don't reveal the guild XP from what I can tell.
The tradeskill XP changes look ok on the surface, but I'm thinking not having the first combine bonus is going to end up a nerf in the long run. First, there's much more grinding in a way. At least before I was making different things. Now it's all about repeating writs, though at least guilds will benefit more I guess from the status. The bad thing is that all the holiday items you got bonus xp for are no longer going to give that, and that removes a lot of potential bonus XP from the game. I'm not a big tradeskiller though, so this doesn't kill me. I do it in my spare time.
Lots of folks with lower level characters are also complaining that their HP went down with the changes since most of the sub-90 gear wasn't re-itemized for the changes. Actually there are lots of complaints in general, but I'm pretty happy so far.
Looks like it's another bonus xp weekend on the server.
Not a bonus EXP weekend, it's just for today as part of the twelve days of Velious.
Also, the flying mount quest requires you to be at least 86, at least for the adventurer version. It also doesn't start from an item you get from /claim, but rather from the Goahmari Village in Great Divide. Tomorrow all of the zones will be hot zones (higher chance to drop exquisite chests), Monday is a discount upgrade to Collector's Edition, and Tuesday is the flying mount races in the various zones, which I'm looking forward to.
I got my flying mount today, and it's pretty nice to have. I've also been playing a bit with the public quests. They seem a bit wonky, but I hope they improve and expand on it.
Been playing a lot the past couple of weeks, more than I played in the last year at least.
I got Gnawbone's provisioning up to level 78 with the various XP bonuses/boosts. The biggest thing slowing me down now are the creatures in Kylong Plains objecting to me pulling a few plants from the ground. It's not like they're eating them or anything!
(That would be a great way for the devs to tick off players, though -- add deer to every zone that munch on the harvestables.)
Just a reminder that the Aether Racing events are going on today! See this post for more info.
Edit: They're really fun, by the way! I highly recommend checking them out. :)
Edit 2: If you do the races enough, you get one of the vehicles to use as a regular amount (25% run speed), which can also be used as an appearance for your flying mount. Pretty neat.

Really liking the races, a neat introduction to flying mounts.
Woo, I'm currently #14 on the leaderboard in Tenebrous Tangle with 118 seconds, though I'd be surprised if that lasts. Edit: #20 in Lavastorm, too!

No races here but I got my provisioning up to level 80. I can actually see the end of my vitality bonus now. Weird!
Also, I need a good name for my ratonga assassin. I'm getting tired of making the character, playing to level 5, deciding the name sucks then repeating the process over and over. :P
The races were great fun! I got three of the mounts, and all 5 titles. Cool stuff.
I also just logged off after attempting my first full on raid size public quest in Storm Gorge. We crashed the zone, at about 2/3 through. When I logged back in, I was in another instance on an almost easy mode battle. Got screwed out of loot for the most part. Way too many people were there (we had 3 full raids) but it was kind of exciting. I haven't done a raid size thing in years. Since the original EQ.
I'm going to have to take a couple months off from EQ2. The Thursday night get-togethers just aren't going to mesh well with my schedule until I'm done with this semester of college.
Another night wouldn't work better?
My schedule over the coming month is going to be pretty much unworkable but it may get better after that (see appropriate thread in Everything Else). I'll post more details later.
I've been horribly sick the past two days so I am not up for anything tonight.
Monday, Wednesday, or Friday would work for me but I know you all have things that you might be doing on those nights so I don't want to cause you folks any grief with having to rearrange your schedules.
Wednesday nights would be pushing it for me, but doable. I can work out something on all the other nights.
I was sans Internet connection for the last 36 hours, so apologies for being a no-show.
Generally speaking, any night but Friday works for me but starting next week and for four consecutive weeks I am working nothing but night shifts with my days off being Saturday and Sunday. I'll be spending most of my free time with the SO but I might be able to work something out.
I could do Monday or Wednesdays.
So Wednesday then?
I am assuming that when Ned gets through his "work hell" we'll be running on Wednesdays. In the meantime I plan on doing some faction grinding to buy tradeskill recipes from the quartermasters in the Fens of Nathsar (wheee...). I also stumbled across a quest on the Isle of Mara that gave me a ring that increases crit chance while crafting. It seems like it would be a good way to get through the 70s since all the mats including fuel are provided. Of course I did not stumble across until I was level 80....
If any of you want to fool around on alts until Ned can join us again just hollar.
The Isle of Mara also has whole suits of armour that give tradeskill crafting bonuses, but you need faction to unlock them and I'm not even sure where to start the grinding on that. I did a bunch of quests there, but they seem completely unrelated to that faction. For the hardcore tradeskillers only, perhaps.
I will actually be able to play this Saturday if that works for anyone else.
I can also play during the week if no one minds starting at 1 a.m. Pacific time!
I can do this Saturday.
Saturday sounds doable.
For those of you who picked it up and know, does EQ2 in its present state have a good (i.e. WoW level, automated matchmaking) Looking for Dungeon feature yet?
P.S. By good, I don't mean spamming chat channels looking for a group, or putting your name on an automated LFG list that no one uses.
Saturday might be okay with me. I'll let you guys know.
Thanks guys.
Saturday's fine for me (I have no life!). Do we want to stick with the earlier starting time on weekends?
