Yeah, the 60 days free is only for the retail all-in-one box.
On the other hand, upgrading the trial version means not having to pay for a retail version of the game, so it's a bit of a trade-off.

Might actually work out cheaper that way to be honest now that I think of it. Considering nowhere locally sells it so I gotta deal with shipping fees, etc. I'm thinking much less stress to just get it over with ingame.
So I'll be upgraded by the end of next week, unless something goes seriously wrong.
It doesn't work out cheaper. If you upgrade from the trial, you pay for your first month's subscription - so, $15, unless you're buying more than one month. You don't get The Shadow Odyssey. If you buy The Shadow Odyssey online or boxed, you pay $20 and the first month of play is included, and you're current in expansion content. If you buy the new All-in-One box retail, it's $20 and you get your first two months included and you're current in expansions.
I guess you could theoretically upgrade and then buy the next expansion in a few months, but there's no lowbie content in that either so I think your best bet is the All-in-One box.
Anyone have any preferences for Thursday night's outing? More general questing in Butcherblock? HQ hijinks? How many new ways can clay get us all killed? :)
Ah you see, and here I was thinking I got all the expansions when I subsribed. All-in-one box it is, might take me a little longer to upgrade now though
I wouldn't mind doing the Fishbone Earring HQ.
I'd prefer more Butcherblock questing, at least in the high end of the spectrum, followed by a move to slightly more challenging zone(s).
I vote coaxing friends into trouble then hitting the feign death key, but the lack of said key causes obvious issues (for me!).
Seriously though, my position remains the same. I lean towards HQs and dungeons. But, I am happy to do the group questing thing.
Finally got access to my account. Work has been hell so I would not have been able to play much and my logged in time will be sporadic at best. I am going to give the welcome back trial a go if it will let me. Now, can I join the guild with the welcome back trial..surely that constraint is only with the regular free trial.
Damn, I have a level 16 Dwarf Berserker on Permafrost. Who knew?
38 Monk on.....The Bazaar...I didn't know any better.
Only 7 and 1/2 hours of updating to go.
You should be able to get a guild invite. Just need the name(s). :)
There's a signature quest that involves Butcherblock, starting here and with this sword as the final reward. It also involves GFay and Crushbone Keep, though I think evil characters can do it too, as you don't have to go into Kelethin.
We finished up with Butcherblock tonight, barring a handful of unexciting lowbie quests and a ratonga's request for ettin toes (taste like cheese!) that we decided against fulfilling due to the low reward-to-effort factor. Since we're all now in the low thirties, we decided to hit up Zek, the Orcish Wastes and got the quests on and near the docks there before calling it quits for the evening. This is mildly exciting to me, as it means we have reached what is essentially the third tier of zones and I've never before ventured outside of the first and second tiers.
I'd like to do something this weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday, probably either dungeon or heritage questing. I am agnostic as to which as long as no resource gathering is involved. I figure few people are likely to want to gather on Christmas Eve (I'll be home, actually, but I have to get up early the next morning to catch my bus out of town, so can't stay up for this.), and I'll be away from my own PC the following Thursday, so I'd like to get at least a little more EQII in in the meantime.
Yeah, I also won't be around for any Christmas Eve hijinks, but I have plans Saturday afternoon, too (which I had forgotten about when I was on tonight). Later Saturday might work for me but Sunday would be better. The following Thursday is New Year's Eve and I'm free that night as I don't particularly celebrate the end of the calendar year, but I understand others like to use it as an occasion to sample various alcoholic stimulants. We could always bump the Thursday night group to earlier in the week.
I'm flexible, so I'll just go with whatever works.
On the crafting front, I can now make some nifty new jewelry we can actually use: caster rings, melee rings (and mastercrafted versions), and various secondary/ranged items. You'd have to supply your own ruthenium for the mastercrafted stuff, though; it's in short supply and bettynium just won't do.
I could probably see my way clear to an earlier group the week of Christmas. Earlier the following week would be unhelpful due to the whole "getting back home on New Year's" thing.
Sunday sounds good for this weekend. As far as New Year's goes, I'll be home, as usual. Sigh.
Is it even possible for non-USians to play on US servers? I've been thinking of taking a look at EQ2 again...
Yes, EQ2 is not region-locked. In the updater you click on Options and choose the region and that's it.
What time would ya'll like to get together today?
Also, which HQ would you like to work on? The four we have to choose from are all more involved than the ones we have done previously. We won't be able to do them in one session and most involve killing bosses in dungeons. To me these are all plusses. I like super quest(s)!
Maybe like...4 or 5 Central?
And I don't know what all four options are, but I vote for working on something a mage can use. Like the earring. One of the reasons I wasn't really into the dwarven workboots quest (aside from it starting with gathering I couldn't do) was that the end reward was a pair of boots I couldn't use. (I guess a whole bunch of status, too, but that doesn't get me hot and bothered.) I mean, I think there's probably enough entertainment value in the quest chain to be worth doing ones that don't reward me, as long as I don't have to grind gathering to start them, but I'd rather prioritize ones that do.
4 central is 2 p.m. Pacific, which works for me. I'm not fussy about which heritage quest and will play until my stomach demands attention dinner-wise.
Right. I have Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night free if we'd like to get our Zek-questing on and will then be unavailable until 1/2/09. We should probably hold off on further heritage questing until everyone's available again post-holidays. Though I suppose if people who weren't free on Sunday would like to get their Glowing Blackstone hq on, we could help do that.
Fugitive, I stuck a couple palladium clusters in the bank for ye aulde quest.
I have put 16 slot bags in the bank too for any of you who need them. I'll add more bags as needed.
As far as playing next week, Monday and Tuesday are best for me. I could probably do Wednesday too. After all, I wouldn't want my extended family to think I had become overtly social all of a sudden.
Paladin, we have been talking about you when you are not on and there is an active conspiracy to do the HQs you may not have done yet when you are finished with the finals/holiday thing.
Tuesday (tomorrow) is looking like the best day for me.
I should be able to make it for Tuesday since my last final is done tomorrow. Any time in the evening is fine by me. Looking forward to getting caught up on the HQs some time in the future.
Tuesday it is then?
Were we getting together tonight?
Sorry, guys, I got behind on some stuff and it looks like I won't be on much until after Christmas.
Well, things seem to have fallen apart for tonight. If folks want to try again tomorrow, feel free, but unfortunately I've scheduled with the assumption that I'd be doing EQII tonight and tomorrow is booked for me.
