Comic Book Wednesday 10/21/09- Issue #9 (Bill Clinton, Joss Whedon, and more!)

Sorry, I'm late this week. The first Comic Book Club thread will be posted tonight.

    Interesting Books This Week
Chew #5- Great book finishes it's first arc.
Cowboy Ninja Viking #1- This should be a real treat. Originally a miniseries, now a full-on ongoing by Lieberman and the fantastic Riley Rossmo. I urge everyone to check this oversized book out. Proof had a pretty stupid sounding concept as well and that turned out to be one of the smartest books on the stand so give it a shot.
Stuff of Legend #2 (of 2)- The first issue was sublime. Think Toy Story meets Wizard of Oz. Very creepy. If you can't get the issues, I urge you to get the trade.
Sugarshock- A one-shot book by Whedon and Fabio Moon. Originally online-only, then in a anthology trade, it's now being released separately with a lot of extras for $3.50.
Ressurection #4- A great book gains Bill Clinton in it's cast. Most books this would be a gimmick, in this it can definitely work.

For the rest of the week's comics (and a great way to manage your pulls for the week) go here and report back.

When can I expect a Chew trade? I missed that train when it first left the station and now it's too late.

    No, sir, you have not.
See the trade of issues 1-5 is coming out the same day as issue 6 (I believe the last week of November). So you can be totally caught up then. Trade is only $10 also.

So my thoughts on the books I got today:
Chew #5- Great as usual. I love how spontaneous this book is.
Jersey Gods #8- Pretty damn good. Love the little twists.
Stuff of Legend #2 (of 2)- Amazing, and I mean AMAZING book. Wow. This and the first issue may be hard to find (they're available for very cheap on Heavyink.com) but they are certainly worth buying and it's actually much cheaper in issues then in trade. Can't wait for the next chapter.
Cowboy Ninja Viking #1- This was insanity on paper. I read the whole thing and remembered absolutely nothing about the plot. Clever writing, just not very clear. Art was great.
Sugarshock- This was utterly bizarre and not in a particularly good way. It irks me how hit-and-miss Whedon is.
    EDIT: Reread Sugarshock. It's good.
