I know someone who pre-ordered a D800 the day it was announced. He still hasn't gotten it.
Waiting on the D600 myself.
Man no one in NY has the D800 in stock. I am disappoint.
Nice shot Denny!

Shot some animals at the zoo a couple weekends ago (and took some pictures beforehand har har har), and I think a few of them are interesting enough for this thread:
Golden Lion Tamarin
Another type (?) of Tamarin, I think
Gorilla
And this one is my favorite. I love the looks on both of the Howler Monkeys' faces.
Mother and baby Howler Monkey
Great shots there
Primates always make for good shooting.

Took a trip up to the Sonoma coast recently and it was my first time shooting in a while.

I usually don't like man made structures in my sunset photos, but something about the lines in the roof of that house really make that one work. Good job!
I think it's because the land and perspective make the house look like it is sunken into the ground.
House or no, the colors in that sunset are amazing.
Speaking of sunsets.... I shot this a few days ago. Not a great picture from a technical standpoint -- shot with my iPhone rather than my DSLR -- but the sky was amazing. I'd never seen distinct sunbeams like that before, and the way that only the sections of clouds they passed through were really visible was really cool looking.

The best camera is the one you have with you.
And that is a perfect example of this. I think this natural phenomena is fantastic and the picture really shows it off well.
Also, thanks everyone for the kind words on my photo. I took a few others from vantage points with no buildings but after playing with them I liked that one the best. It surprised me too. Thinking about it after the fact, I think the building works due to the other horizontal lines from the other elements of the coastline.
Hmm am trying to think of some of the sunset stuff I've done. There isn't a whole heck of a lot actually...

Nice photos guys. I have been to Bodega Bay and that really looked nice.
Here are a few i've taken
These are taken from where I live, there is a heath and they are taken from the top of it looking down.

excellent colors!
Where the hell do you live? Somewhere on Mars, no doubt, because around here, friend, the sky is blue.
Seriously, Reemul, those are beautiful.
Hehe, was just very lucky, it's near Sandbanks in Dorset/Uk and the sun sets behind the heath and down behind the beach, you had the clouds and mist coming upwards and it was warm as well.
One of those glad I hiked up here late evening with the tripod and gear etc even though it was the end of a long week (friday)
I'd love some blue sky but England is giving that a miss this year.
Dammit, Reemul, now I'm just going to give up on sunset pictures.
Those are amazing.
Quite a few from me.
First we had the Olympic Torch come to our town on friday and got a couple of shots.
First the change over as it's a relay around the UK.

Then a shot of my son holding the torch.

This weekend we went to a country park and there was this really friendly squirrel who came over to me.

It then proceeded to find a spot to dig and dig a very big hole.

That is awesome for your son! Wow.
Thanks and yeah once in a lifetime chance probably.
This the park we like to go to to feed the ducks.

A couple from me today.
Taken at Mudeford Quay, those beach huts sell for around $200,000 each. They have kitchen and bed etc in them but still a lot of money.

Don't really do birds but this one was sitting on a Lobster pot hoping for scraps without any luck.

I like how the color in the bird echoes the colors of the pot.
Yeah. That's a great shot. Dig the shallow depth of field.
I haven't taken my camera out in a while. But the Olympic torch passing nearby was a good excuse.
First, a picture from the police escort preceding the torch.
Not everybody gets a comfy motorbike
Then, the main event:
Torch Relay 022 -> 023 (Bromley Road, Catford)
Torch Bearer 023 (Bromley Road, Catford)
Torch Relay 023 -> 024 (Bromley Road, Catford)
Torch Bearer 024 (Bromley Road, Catford)
It was surprisingly good fun to be there. Hard to get pictures when the crowd surges in front of you and all you get is heads though.

Wow, that's a very geriatric Olympic crowd! Where those people athletes at some point?
And where does that officer keep her gun?
Hehe. I don't know who the girl is. A local. 023 is apparently a kids' football coach and 024 "has been involved with scoutism for over 50 years". In other words, it's not all athletic celebrities by any stretch of the imagination. :)
She doesn't need a gun. She can kill you with a look. That's how hardcore the Olympic torch protection team is...
