That is a temporary state. I had the same problem when creating an account for my son. Just wait until it is "high" or less.

It means you can't create a character there now. If you really want to play now, create a character somewhere else - but realize that all of your characters will live on this server you select, and initially you won't be able to play with your friend. Also, the server you choose is your home server for WvWvW.

Later on (say, tomorrow morning) you can log into GW2 and transfer all your characters to your friends' server - as of now, transfers don't cost anything, and there's no waiting period if you wanted to transfer a couple of times.

At some point in the future, they'll implement guesting, which lets characters from different servers play and group together. However, your home server still determines your "team" for WvWvW.

Holy crap... GW2 honeymoon is over. The seething hate with this patch will make next week's WoW launch interesting.

What hate where? Using the discovery panel straight from my collection is a godsend for cooking.

Not about the discovery tab. The lockouts/diminished returns/etc. It is overwhelming the applause of the discovery tab fix. QT3 is not representative of the raving lunatics on other forums :)

I've noticed before that ore tends to move around a little within an area where it appears in greater quantities, but tonight I found that copper had moved around quite a bit in the Fisher's Beach Bend area (first stop on my copper mining rounds). Curious to know if the changes are random or scheduled? I'll be going to my second stop next (Queensland area) but last I checked, it's more spread out there.

Played a little bit in the Iron Marches area today and found at least 5 bugged events. I don't know if I was just unlucky or if they really did some sloppy work there, but still very annoying.

So I've only played for a few hours so far and really like what I see, but man that camera lag is really annoying!

I had real issues with the camera lag at first, but it seems that I've adapted to it and now rarely notice. In fact, WoW almost feels trigger-happy when switching back. Odd how that works! But just persist, and it'll get better.

    You mean this?

"Added a system to limit the experience and gold that players can receive from speed-farming dungeons."

I haven't leveled enough to do those, but I can see limiting gold but why limit XP? Let players zoom to 80 if that's what they want.

There's a guild on our server (Ehmry Bay) called, "Koon Slayers," abbreviated "KKK." A brief chat with some of their members indicated that the name means exactly what it implies -- they're racist a-holes.

There is literally no way to report this fact to ANet. The 'report' function is a drop-down menu with only a few options, none of which apply, and no comment field. There appears to be no way to contact a GM. Heck, I can't even post on their forums (I keep getting the 401-unauthorized error when I try to log in).

Love the game. Not fond of the support.

You can level without even trying in GW2. The XP limiting must be for the 24/7 catass players. ;)

I just reported them via the GW2 Support webform for violating the Rules of Conduct, claiming they admitted in chat that their guild name is intentionally racist.

Heh. Not sure I agree. I have a level 31 engineer and I've played him enough that I wish he was level 80 now. I'm not sure what another 49 levels of PvE where I kill monsters and click on things will do to make me a better player.

Sorry for the double post, but the main reason they are doing this is to make it harder to do the explore version of a dungeon over and over. It isn't going to affect anyone not at 80, because tbh, people below 80 will not be able to "speed farm" the dungeons they are talking about.

The leveling process is not just an extended tutorial in GW2. At level 31 you basically have access to everything anyway, except the higher level PvE zones. This game is about the journey, not the destination. It's about new ways of sharing a space with other players. And it's fantastic.

Well, you dont really seem to like the game, and I assume thats not true of most people playing the game.

I like the game a lot, but Mr. Asher's comments and tone rings true for me as well after leveling a 41 Thief and 25 Engineer. I can't prove it but personally, I blame the fact that I've been focusing way too much on grinding and not enough on reaching out to groups and guildies and randoms for group-based fun.

That said, I get the impression that he's been grouping more than I have been.

If you don't like it at 41, you probably won't like it at 80 (the only caveats are if Orr grabs you or if the fully unlocked traits make that big a difference to your profession)

You can like the game but not the profession. My point was mostly for Mark I guess; "I wish I was 80" is mostly meaningless given that what you'll be doing at 80 is an awful lot like what you're doing right now, so wanting to skip the journey is missing the point somewhat.

    Apologies, should've made it clearer.

Its not just that, they've now added an anti event farming mechanism to limit the karma and gold players get from farming events. When the endgame temple armors cost 42,000 karma a piece that seems rather extreme.

I haven't heard any seething hate either, so I must hang out in the wrong places.

If the code is designed to make people stop doing the same event over and over, I don't have a problem with that - that's not how I like to play the game (though they could put in code to lower the respawn rate of the same event too!). And I don't really care about the anti-speedrun code, because that's something else I don't do.

Last night in Fields of Ruin, the first event I came to was bugged, so yeah, they still need to work on that.

I didn't even notice the last 20 levels I made over the last couple of days and I am now level 78. Been too engrossed in the stories, crafting, and WvW. I even spent some time reading all the grave stones in Ebonhawke. ;)

Well Mark doesn't really like the game so you are probably preaching to the wrong choir. ;)

I am really confused by people wanting to power level to 80 and wishing they could skip 31 to 79.

I finally understand why a lot of forums relegate mmos to their own sub forum. We people are crazy!

One thing I have never seen mentioned in any of the guides is that, when leveling up crafting, you can save quite a few rare mats by discovering/crafting "larger" items.

For example, Armorsmith. You can craft/discover a chest piece or boots. The former will give you more exp but will use more "common" materials (ingots and scrapes). Both will use the same number of rare materials (claws, blood, etc.)

I noticed that common mats are more plentiful to find and cheaper to buy, so my crafting progress is mostly limited by the number of rare mats I have. By sticking to "larger" items, you will level up your crafting faster and use less rare mats.

And you can sell the excess of the rare mats when you are done with the tier and make some good coin.
