Comic Book Wednesdays 7/22/09- Issue #16 (Dethklok and Spidey say KONICHIWA BITCHES!)

All general comic talk is welcome as is all weekly stuff. Just spoiler stuff until after it is released (not all of us read solicits).

Nawid A.'s Picks of the Week

Of course, Wednesday Comics continues this week, so pick it up!
Amazing Spider-Man #600- The Spider-Man All-Star team cooks up a big 104 page issue for only $5. Should be a good jumping on point.
The Goon vs Dethlok (One Shot)- I don't know much about this Dethlok fella, but I do know that the Goon is excellent and any story from the mind of Powell is going to be weird, hilarious, and a bit disturbing.
Phonogram: Singles Club #4 (of 7)- Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, and now David Lafuente (the new USM artist) deliver more of the critically acclaimed series.

Nawid A.'s Trade of the Week

The Hunter is Cooke's first adaptation of the Stark/Westlake Parker books. Reviews and early response has many saying it's Cooke's best work yet. And for those who have already read some Cooke work, we all know what that means.

For the rest of the week's comics (and a great way to manage your pulls for the week) go here and report back.

Correct me if I'm missing something, but that's Dethklok, not Dethlok, and I need to purchase it immediately.

    Check here

If there is no store nearby, I suggest Heavy Ink as their shipping cost is only $1, and they take 20% off anyway so you'll only pay 20 cents extra for having it shipped.

Heh, I thought the above post said Goon and wasn't mocking my now corrected misspelling. Sorry I do not watch Metalocalypse (which is going to be a full on comic series after this, I believe).

"Dark" Wolverine, or whatever, remains better than I expected. Which isn't saying much, but I wasn't originally planning on sticking with it. It's a better read than most of the other stuff involving the Dark Avengers that I'm following though.

For once, single issue comics were a value this week (at least for me). None of the comics even had interior ads and they were still cheap!
Dethklok vs. The Goon was a deconstruction of the crossover with Powell's humor and awesome paintings (though he doesn't paint Dethklok).
Amazing Spider-Man was massive. Loved the Stan Lee/Marcos Martin story. Stan Lee still got it. Think I'm going to try to read this regularly now.
Wednesday Comics was probably the best one yet though I'm disappointed with Gaiman just having Allred do splash pages. They're gorgeous but I want more. When this is collected as a massive coffee table book, I think Metamorpho will be the highlight.

Also went to the library and picked up some trades. So far I read Joker. Interesting intepretation (and very well done) but this Joker just isn't my Joker, y'know? And I didn't like what they did with Two-Face here. I really liked the ending though.
