Also the twist is never very precise.

I hope it not an NDA issue if I say that I've played several games tonight and can not access the beta boards to report bugs. The fourms time out constantly. And I'd really like to tell them about the CTDs.

Use the issue tracker. There's a link from your profile.

Well, NDA or no NDA their website is currently borked and has been for a few hours. So no forums (beta or otherwise) plus no Founders pre sales.

Well aside from the NDA foolery, I have it on somewhat good authority that there was a lot of MWO talk in the most recent Qt3 Games Podcast. So for those that are currently on the bubble, it may be worth a listen before Founders day hits.

Anyone else having MWO forum timeout issues? I can get to the index but not to any of the threads.

mwomercs.com is down again. Likely a similar issue as last time which is that their data center company in Canada sucks balls and should be fired.

I'm in the beta as "Dave47". Apparently, that is all I can say about it.

Also interested in snagging a MW:Tactics key if anyone at GenCon is feeling generous.

Btw, for MW:O founders I've got a pretty sizable thread in the Beta > Guides > General sticky section that has sheets for hardpoints, engines, weapons, and the pilot lab.

SWIM asks if anyone is getting solid system locks every three games or so? To the point of a cold boot.

My cat says it's been solid as a rock game after game for hours.

Funny that. My parrot told me that the game is a very fun thing now. And my bird tells me that she really enjoys playing it. Especially now that she doesn't have nasty crashes.

Heard that the new map is good but that matchmaking don't work 100% yet and there are still many 8v6 games.

Is the Mech customization comparable to the good old MechForce (Amiga) game? That was one of the most amazing games back in the day....

There's enough youtube videos of mech customization that I don't mind saying it's pretty good. There are three easily identifiable differences:

    1) Because mech armor has been doubled, the number of armor points you get per ton is also doubled.

    2) Mech engines can be selected at 5-point engine rating intervals. Although you could technically do this in tabletop construction, it made no sense to take anything heavier than the lightest one that would work for your required speed. Those 5-point increments now result in slightly faster speeds.

    3) The number and type of weapon hard points are a significant deviation, and I'm not 100% convinced that they serve a purpose - particularly given that there are a few variants that can be used to create extremely munchie designs (eg, a 9 medium laser Hunchie or a dual ac20 catapult).

    Probably not:

    http://mwomercs.com/news/2012/04/193-dev-blog-6-mechlab

basically its a hard point system, much like mechwarrior 4. So the right arm on a given mech might be able to mount up to 2 ballistic weapons, that take up a maximum of 9 slots.

The increments still kind of matter because of the "free" included extra heatsink you get at certain bumps.
