I'll bet someone will explain at some point! Can't wait.
It doesn't actually make much contextual sense for AA, because you don't really have that situation happen at all, but you do need to have played at least AA to get the punchline.

Finding those little question marks is a compelling part of the game. It rewarded looking in weird places, keeping an eye out in general, and exploring the map.
In addition to the main plotline, Arkham Asylum is peppered with challenges created by the Riddler. A bunch of these involve finding little trophies that he's hidden all over the island in out-of-the-way places.
The joke is that Batman ignores the guy in distress because the only reason he happened to be in the area was to find that Riddler trophy.
Thanks for the explanation!(s)
I liked this one, but their older Arkham Asylum strip remains undefeated:

I think the title on that one was my favorite part, but I don't remember it exactly.
"The Circle of Life"
It took me a second to get the joke, but today's was a solid piece of humorcraft:

Don't look at her legs!
The last panel is certainly a better gag than a shot of Gabe in drag, but the EXTREME expression on Tycho's face oversells it IMO. It would have been a better if it had reflected a slow realization or suspicion. What they did gives me the feeling Gabe just wanted to draw a crazy face for the sake of drawing a crazy face.
Is Tycho dressed as a Droid?
I thought he was dressed as HAL.
I thought he was HAL....
Edit: Dammit, how did I get beaten by half a second!?
Yeah I don't think I get it, unless Tycho's outfit is supposed to imply that his other half is something obscene or something.
HAL-9000, I assume. (Edit: curses!)
And I disagree strongly with the assessment of the 3rd panel of the Batman comic. The joke is great, but why the hell is Batman making that stupid face? Awful.
Yeah, at first I didn't quite get it, mostly because I can't tell their wives apart. Re-reading it, it's trying to imply that since she's the pirate, that she is gabe's wife and gabe is the sexy nurse.
(shoulda drawn Tycho's wife as well, or is he married? I thought they both were, but can't remember)
I think maybe my misunderstanding is based on idiocy. I'm not sure why I thought it was Gabe that was in the pirate outfit with a wig and fake breasts talking about himself in the third person. I think it may have to do with Gabe and his wife having the same exact expression in the first two panels... so I thought the crossdressing was being shown explicitly.
I swore to god that I would not inflict myself on this thread anymore, but watching you guys brain-sprain over really, really simple gags like this has shed new light on my comprehension of PA's target audience.
So thanks... I think.
Come on guys, she clearly has a red nose, which Gabe DOESN'T have.
Which reminds me of a massive fight Scott Kurtz (PVP author/artist) had with his twitter followers over red noses. Apparently they thought they looked Goddamned retarded, and he thought they were all uncultured slobs incapable of appreciating the rich artistic history of red noses.
Ah, there we go.
What in the...
Look, I'm no great fan of Gabe's art these days, but their head and face shapes are totally different, her entire body shape is clearly female, and she's noticeably smaller and shorter than Tycho, whereas in the previous panel (and every strip in the series) Gabe is the same size as him. While it took me a second to realize "oh, that's Gabe's wife," it would never, ever occur to me to think that was Gabe in...what, female pirate drag?
Is this the secret running gag of this thread now? Intentionally not getting the most basic stuff imaginable? Did I totally fall for a meta troll? I'm going to go ahead and believe that, because the alternative is really kind of disturbing.
Are you seriously comparing what you didn't get to what Pogo didn't get? You (possibly) lacked information (which, admittedly, was readily available elsewhere, but still) that was not part of the strip itself. Pogo is making insane mental leaps about what character is (clearly not) depicted in the second panel. One is not like the other.
Of course, maybe now you're claiming that you were being funny all along.
Good job.
I think he was pretty clearly making a funny. It may or may not have been funny, but that was the intent. I mean 'what's a match'? C'mon. Even you admitted at the time (though Sebmojo did not quote it) that with this thread sarcasm was hard to tell with people being so ludicrous. (I believe at the time someone was complaining that the strip wasn't a multimedia experience that actually involved Tycho calling you to explain the gag.)
