Wasn't the case for me. I might've had one crash in my 120-odd hours of FNV. Except for the launcher, strangely enough the launcher is crash-happy.

Very few crashes for me, though they did seem to increase a bit with the most recent DLC, Old World Blues, and they were usually at doors. I'm not sure if that was due to the DLC or the patch around that time. But I haven't had issues anywhere else outside of the OWB area.

    When going through doors?

Isn't that like... every few minutes?!!

No, i had a few crashes in my 70 hour game, around four or so. But no more.

I have a fairly easy to reproduce crash at McCarran (right in front of the entrance doors) but nothing else.

The crash has been documented in the wiki, so at least I know I'm not alone.

Interesting, thanks. I get a crash maybe every 30 minutes or so, but there's certain doors like McCarran that do it about 50% of the time.

    From the bugs entry:

Crashing or freezing when entering or exiting areas is somewhat common.

No crashing here, thats door related. I did have a few crashes every other hour or so when the game first released, but it been surprisingly stable since then.

My frequent crashes are not door-related, they seem to be related to the sound engine...

    (grr)

edit: Yes I play on the PC

Oh dear, I forgot to mention: is there anyone on the PC not seeing door crashes?

I still haven't had this game crash that I can recall and I'm closing in on 200 hours.

Leaving aside the launcher, I've probably had one or two crashes - nothing significant in 120 hours and not door related that I recall.

When I played NV, crashes seemed to be sound related for me, too. Particularly with the launcher, which would stop working at the exact point the music would usually start up (only it wouldn't since it crashed). It could have been coincidental, but I didn't look into it since restarting the launcher was quick and always worked. In game crashes were rare and I, fortunately, saved often as I usually do in games that allow it.

(This was with the Steam version of NV.)

Oddly enough, I never had problems with the launcher unless I accidentally left it running for a half-hour or so, at which point it did bad things.

And I was unable to basically unable play at all until the latest patch, as I noted earlier in this the thread, so...

Never had a door crash. Sometimes, the launcher works right away. However, most times, it crashes 2 or 3 times before it finally works, always seemingly when the sound starts. I've often wondered if it's related to the driver, but I've updated it and it didn't help. I also don't feel like rolling back to try to figure it out as it's never an issue in-game.

Router crash ate my reply, so I'm going to keep this reconstruction short.

Door crash, yes. Ranger Station Charlie, near Novac. Every time I tried to exit the barracks, the game CTD'd. Solution: Open dev console and use CoC command to transport player to Novac.

Lonesome Road releases tomorrow. I'm excited to see the end of the story, but afraid that they are setting up unrealistic expectations for a DLC. They've been releasing audio logs the last week or so to get people interested and some unexpected twists already have the official boards in an uproar. So hopefully they can pull off a respectable conclusion to this story arc that we've been following through the DLCs.

I narrowed down the bulk of the crashes to the AutoLoot mod I was using, thanks for the info.

Lonesome Road is out, at least for the 360 and PC. Interesting twists so far versus what people thought, though I'm only a little ways in.

Is this the last DLC? I've been waiting for it to start my DLC playthrough.

Who's afriad of a big bad Deathclaw? Not I!

There is some additional weapon DLC (that have 5 achievements tied to them) due out in a week or so. But in terms of real additional and downloadable contents? Yes, this is the last. For real.

I played 1 hour or so of Lonely Roads, I'm interesting to see where is goes. It seems kind of difficult, though I am level 45, my advice would be to bring your A game to this one. Although, unlike previous DLC, you can come and go as you please. I stopped when I entered a tunnel...and saw a glimpse of deathclaw...heard the roar of several more...

Yeah, but did you find that awesome rocket launcher? That thing makes lunch meat out of just about any opposition.

That's about as far as I've made it but my comparably leveled character is having no issues. The Brush rifle is pretty much one or two shot deadly against the Marked Men enemies. And having an ally makes combat even easier. I haven't even tried the new rocket launcher, even though I have over 200 rounds for it and have already purchased all the mods. And I just found my first SMMG, though the stats on it don't look all that great.

To be honest the difficult part of this so far has been having to make so many trips back to the commisary terminals to offload the loot. The gear the Marked Men carry is worth so much I feel like I have to keep grabbing their main weapons and armor and that soon weighs me and my ally completely down.

They're clearly references, but I'm not sure to what.

I've finished the main quest, IMO the end is a bit underwhelming.
    Spoiler: ahoy!
The main quest is pretty much a "goto X1 then X2, X3 etc." quest, spliced with EDE background and Ulysses interactions. Both narratives are not that interesting. We already know EDE is enclave tech trying to reach Navarro, from the vanilla game, and the new stuff in Lonesome Road just didn't add much. In the end, Ulysses' motivation is a simple grudge, his cameos in the other DLCs overstated his intelligence.

It will be interesting to see if the choice you make at the very end will have material effects on the Mojave, like Broken Steel did to the vanilla Fallout 3 ending.

The new weapons are a bit hit and miss. The new rocket launcher is pretty much a no-go for hardcore mode because the ammos are so heavy. The new unarmed weapon is pretty good though.

On the whole I would rate this DLC maybe the worst of the bunch, on par with Honest Hearts in terms of disappointing narratives. Just as they failed to flesh out the Burned Man, Ulysses here is just boring. It is solid without being memorable.

I probably had 3-4 random crashes and at least one time when a character got "stuck" in a bit of the geography.........

I'm not to the end, but it feels like I'm pretty close. If so, then its pretty short, though its possible I missed a few things. Not sure what to think about the story at this point.

I did just give the SMMG a try and its not bad at all. I had my doubts given its use of 10mm, but it took down some deathclaws pretty handily.

Obsidian probably should have released Old World Blues last. It just stands so much taller compared to the rest of the FNV DLC.
