I just used the Warmog's for the first time since the patch. It is a lot better IMO. I had over 4k hp really early.
Jim, re: your concerns about team comp, I have just one word: LEGENDARY!
:p

Well, that last win was fun but frustrating. I was clearly holding us back in mid; the only reason it dragged out so long is because I was behind there. And it wasn't just the Kennen death.
Haha, Lux's Death Ray is hilarious and great. I love how if they're still alive after you shoot them, people run around on fire for a while.
I also love going 20 and 6 with Jax. I even got a quadrakill at the end. It might've been a pentakill, but it was the middle of a teamfight and I couldn't see a goddamn thing so someone else got a kill. That fight was still enough to make the entire other team suddenly surrender even though they had like six towers left, though.
I played really poorly tonight, sorry all. To punish myself I will go play "Harassing brown people: The game" and start my writeup.
I've had great success with AD/crit Taric. He gets back mana on attacks and big crits especially with a razor or lantern refill his mana very, very fast. In addition some AS is good since each attack reduces cooldown on his heal.
I find that his scaling on AP is low enough that I'm much more successful with the AD/Crit than going AP anything.
I played pretty good in the Therlun/Lazy game (we had 2 pubbies; but the competition wasn;'t that great). But I really struggled after that.
Yesterday I played middle lane in 4 games. In the first (a pubby), a Heimer gave me fits. I wasn't sure if I should be trying to take out his turrets or focus on minions. He was dropping two turrets right at the middle point (a little before actually), and he was chewing through the creep waves so quickly I didn't have alot of time to get kills.
Second game I can't remember who was in mid. Third was annie. She gave me fits. Bad fits. Fourth was Kennen. Gah.
It felt like I was getting chewed up against the better competition. Maybe I've gotten really paranoid about dying early, or laning solo in mid, that I've gotten too cautious. I dunno. I feel like I have improved on last hitting since I started playing but last night I slumped.
It feels like there was another heimer in there (because I remember him being more conservative in his turret use. The guy in the pubby was very good at using turrets to push forward). Maybe I played 5 games.
I tried out Heimer in a practice game last night. I can lump him in along with Gangplank and Ashe for the champs who I really enjoy playing. I guess I just prefer a champ with some good ranged attacks. The turrets are a blast and I like the rocket attack and coming in with a stun grenade into a team fight seems to be really helpful.
One of these days I'll play against real people lol. I just wish they would mix up which heroes were used for teammates and opponents in practice matches.
How do you play against only bots? I've never managed it!
Oh no doubt, thus why I've been sticking to playing vs bots. I'm about as casual as you can get with multiplayer games and prefer not to get railed out by random people on the internet because I'm slow, not up on all the tactics or get distracted by my kids. I'd love to see a game like this with a more robust single player option.
So I'm entering a phase in my newbness where I'm actually starting to think about lane position, and not pushing all the time. I gather that experienced players like to play close to their towers rather than close to the other team's until they're actually ready to push and take the tower down.
The problem is, I usually play Morgana. It's kind of tricky to get last hits with her regular attack, and her W attack devastates waves of creeps. Whatever lane I'm in usually spends a lot of time at the opposing tower, slowly whittling it down. This is working pretty well right now, but am I right in thinking high level players will crush me for playing like that?
Anyone have tips for playing a character that's good at pushing but probably shouldn't push all the time?
Practice lasthitting with mages. :)
But there's also nothing wrong with pushing a wave into their tower now and then; the cannon will steal lasthits from the enemies. Just don't follow the wave if you feel your flanks are unsafe. Use the time to shop or gank, and you'll be back when the creeps are in a better position.
Riot usually restricts practice games in that way after major patches and such. usually a day or two after the restriction is removed, and you can start practice games solo again.
1v5 bots is a fun challenge ;)
Oh jeez, undocumented feature! Thanks for that, never knew!
Thanks Nezz and copet, sounds like good advice. ¦^)
I tried Evelynn because I thought her remake was in. Unfortunately, it wasn't and she's still kind of terrible. I was totally owning early game but around mid game the wheels fell off. Even with nobody buying an oracle elixir, my damage output still wasn't good enough to burn people down in a reasonable amount of time. Also, I don't understand why she has all magic damage skills and then an ult that improves attack speed. I guess I should build Sheen and then Lichbane ASAP?
Is the LOL US server just for us? If so, would more descriptive channel names be handy? Eg, an "AFK" room that indicated you were not around but perhaps up for a game? And... any other ideas?
Organization is for Germans.
You've been looking at the EU mumble :) But agreed the channels we have set up make a lot of sense. Ready for a Game, On Later (comments so you get an idea when people are ready - if only :) )
The downside on the onlater is it means you have more people on at any one time, the positive is they tend to play earlier than they intended :)
My little video of Heimer checking the bush with his face is done. Sound is a bit off, it's a bit blurry, but what can you do when you guys pay nothing, NOTHING for it?
