Why is no one talking about the multiple states declaring sovereignty (Civil War II)?

    http://digg.com/world_news/New_Hamps...Of_Civil_War_2

There has only been ONE mainstream news report about this, and it was on Fox News' Glenn Beck show where he interviewed New Hampshire as they were the first. Everyone else is either burying it or ignoring it.

    Quoted from the NH resolution:

“That any Act by the Congress of the United States, Executive Order of the President of the United States of America or Judicial Order by the Judicatories of the United States of America which assumes a power not delegated to the government of United States of America by the Constitution for the United States of America and which serves to diminish the liberty of the any of the several States or their citizens shall constitute a nullification of the Constitution for the United States of America by the government of the United States of America. Acts which would cause such a nullification include, but are not limited to:
    I. Establishing martial law or a state of emergency within one of the States comprising the United States of America without the consent of the legislature of that State. II. Requiring involuntary servitude, or governmental service other than a draft during a declared war, or pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law.
III. Requiring involuntary servitude or governmental service of persons under the age of 18 other than pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law.
IV. Surrendering any power delegated or not delegated to any corporation or foreign government.
    V. Any act regarding religion; further limitations on freedom of political speech; or further limitations on freedom of the press.
VI. Further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition; and
That should any such act of Congress become law or Executive Order or Judicial Order be put into force, all powers previously delegated to the United States of America by the Constitution for the United States shall revert to the several States individually."

According to New Hampshire, the number of states following suit is actually closer to 20 now.

Maybe because there's not going to be a Civil War 2?

Maybe because anyone in the legislature can introduce any bill they want.

Maybe because in looking up the links you gave, it seems like few if any of these have actually been passed. It seems like most of these have recently been INTRODUCED, not PASSED. Even your shining example of New Hampshire has not passed the bill.

Lastly, any of this would have to be adjudicated by the Supreme Court.

It's seems a bit much to get bent out of shape about bills/resolutions that haven't been passed, doncha think?

Not too mention that there is nothing in there that changes anything. Nothing happens unless something unconstitutional happens, which would have to be declared by the Supreme Court because nothing in the bill defines who gets to decide.

And as Grifman points out these are proposals, not passed bills. It simply looks like a coordinated attempt by the fringe elements that are paranoid about the "New World Order" and such.

    ORLY?

This is just two of the points above. I've seen more, but these are just the ones off the top of my head:

    V. Any act regarding religion; further limitations on freedom of political speech; or further limitations on freedom of the press.

The instant the "Fairness Doctrine" is put into effect or Obama passes the Matthew Shepard law; this will trigger. Fairness Doctrine puts "further limitations on freedom of political speech", and the Matthew Shepard law will basically make every Church in the US that reads the Bible guilty of a hate crime.

VI. Further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition; and

    500% tax on ammunition anyone?

Sometimes, I think Tom lets people in purely to entertain us with their insanity.

I mean really the whole country is about to secede from itself anyway, since Sarah Palin is high up in the Alaskan Independence Party and was running for Veep so when McCain died she can declare the USA independent of the USA.

This is just standard Paultard stuff, here. Especially Arizona, I mean hell, we probably get a bill like this once a week with our ridiculous states rights fanaticism, and our hatred of MLK Day.

Cranks always introduce bills; people are really pissed about Bush still, and a new different set are pissed about Obama, so cranks introduce these sort of things.

Except for Glenn Beck, upholding the banner of FREEDOM, for all of us. Well, at least until he's threatened with disembowelment. I think he'll scream whatever they want at that point.

What has post count got to do with anything?

If the P&R forum is the first place you visit when you find Qt3 you're doing something wrong. The people who do so are invariably idiots who fail to grasp the idea that they're making a horrible first impression.

Also, anyone familiar with his posting history on GAF is hardly surprised that he's already spouting this crap here.

Because there's a strong filtering function in P&R. New people roll in here, post some (typically) idiotic shit, the hivemind points out how fucking stupid they are, and since most people (aside from Bob Cherub) don't like having their stupidity smashed back in their face repeatedly, they go away.

So having a low post count doesn't make you stupid, but it does mean that you haven't passed the dumbass filter yet, and history shows that 90% of the people don't make the cut.

Based on ManaByte's post, the odds aren't in his favor either.

I suspect that has more to do with Bob skipping out on that bet that he lost.

I thought the reason he left was because he lost the bet, not to 'skip out' on it.

But my point is, there's a reason he made the bet.

Nope. Everyone agreed that bannings or ostracization would not be a part of the wager. The wager was this:

I will also change my Location tag to whatever you guys want. Until Obama is out of office.

If McCain/Palin win, then everyone else in the bet will write a 1,500 word essay, "utterly honest and without sarcasm, making constructive and logical arguments for why McCain is the better candidate for America." In addition, I want a 1,500 word essay "utterly honest and without sarcasm, making constructive and logical arguments" for why Bob Cherub is the most astute poster on Quartertothree Politics & Religion.

I will also request that you change your Location tag to whatever I want. Individually. Until McCain is out of office.

This is the wager. Who is in against me? Once you say you're in, there's no going back on the deal.

In addition to this main wager, I'm willing to take side bets of any kind.

    Let's get it on!

Because Glenn Beck is an alarmist lunatic who's wrong about everything? This is the guy that seriously predicted the collapse of Mexico which would result in their entire populace swarming north.

Seriously, go Google some Glenn Beck videos from a year ago to see how accurate this guy is.

Instead we saw the collapse of the US economy, resulting in illegal Mexican immigrants moving back south.

Manabyte's problem is that Lum wasn't on today. The modern master of retrospeculative geopolitics would have waved his fingers and all of you would have been fighting yourselves not to maintain that your state capital would no doubt be the capital of the Native American Nations or the UCAS. Unless you live in California, and then you'd be bobbing your head to the left and then the right, trying to see if that slight dizzy feeling you are experiencing is the first rumblings of the 9.6er that is fated to turn Los Angeles from a metaphorical to a literal penal colony.
