    Xavier: Renegade Angel

This show is the Rimbo's favorite webcomic of late night television. I have to say this or I will explode, I would rather be watching the episode of the Golden Girls where the doctors can't figure out what is wrong with Dorothy, and then she gets mad at them for suggesting that she is just getting older. And if you know me, you know that is my absolute least favorite episode of Golden Girls.

It was made by the guys who made Doggy Fizzle Televizzle and Wonder Showzen, which are alright shows, but this show is like those shows took a dump and tried to sell it as a baby. Well I have news for you, it's not a baby, it's a poop. It doesn't even have salvageable parts like a regular unwanted baby, it's just shit.

This is one of those shows that would be better on the radio.

Totally agree with Flowers, and I almost started a thread like this late last Sunday night. Gawd, what a horrible show. When you're creeped out by the lead character, it's hard to engage on any level. And you're talking to someone who likes Tim and Eric, so it's not like my standards are THAT high.

Drinky Crow, OTOH - now that's some quality teevee.

Aw, hell - I love what little I've seen of Wondershowzen. What a shame.

There's an interview with the creators of this show, Vernon Chatman and John Lee, up on AVClub today. I've not seen Xavier, but I'm a big Wonder Showzen fan, and they do a great interview.

For bonus reading, here's an interview they did with AVClub a couple years ago, with the same interviewer no less. It's more coherent, but no less entertaining.

AVC: The last time we spoke, you guys were talking about how you were essentially daring MTV to pull the plug on Wonder Showzen.

VC: You fucker! That didn’t backfire at all.

JL: Look at us now! We’re the puppetmasters. MTV2 does whatever we say. We go to the press and tell ’em to cancel our show, boom. Done.
Awesome. Also, everybody go listen to Muckafurgason, the band John Lee used to be in. Please?

    Edit: also this:

JL: We pitched Xavier before Wonder Showzen even got picked up. We pitched it as a live-action show to the head of Comedy Central, who called our agent and said, “Why did you even send them if they’re gonna do a joke pitch? That’s not funny, to just come in and waste my time.” He thought that we were doing a prank, which we were, but then we turned it into a show. So really the prank is on us. We prank ourselves to the bank.
    Genius.

Xavier is pretty uneven, but when it's good it can be incredible. Like, pretty much that whole episode with the babies being kidnapped was gold.

But when it's bad... yikes. That episode with the giant sperm was so freaking awful.

That was the only bad one, I thought. Also, I think the season two premiere was/is tonight, but I could be wrong.

The clip on the Onion interview page involving drinking a jug of AIDS made me never want to see it.
