I put them there to try and end the tantrum spiral. It failed.
I had a quick look at the fortress. What a freaking mess.
Anyway, what I want to know is who set up living quarters underground. We trekked to Quakebells to get rid of outmoded dwarven conservatism that said all dwarves should live underground. We would soar to the skies and stand proud in daylight. Also, the house rule about not building below ground.
Thus my first act on my second term of office is to order the dismantling of all personal quarters below ground. They will not be wasted however, I'll have them converted into catacombs. It's unseemly to have all those coffins just lying about in the corridors and the baroness insists that she's due a proper tomb.

The first thing I saw when loading the save was a child with a red lung wound doing hard construction work... :P
If there is an area that gets constantly flooded by an underground river muscle power probably wont be enough.
You'll need wind or water wheels to overcome an endless source like that.
(-> to drain enough water so you can build walls and block the water source)
If its just a flooded area it should eventually be emptied even by muscle power.
We have a lot of magma, make a magma casson! Or go down in the water free area and then across and back up under the aquifer from below.
He was like that when I took over. Little bugger works his ass off though. He tends to get winded.
Kalle, I attempted to remedy the living quarters thing but there was a lot of work to do with very little time. I agree in spirit about building underground.
If the bauxite I've been trying to excavate is impossible to dry out, there's got to be another deposit somewhere.
It took me a long time to get started this time, because looking at the state of things it was hard to imagine that I'd have any fun. But looking back at the year I enjoyed it even though it was challenging to say the least.
Ok, I've gotta bow out. Got real life stuff I need to deal with right now. Next in line, feel free to take it from here.

I am worrying about my turn, because I don't know a lot of the more complicated stuff. The only stuff I know how to do is from calistas's tutorial.
Well, you can hardly do worse than Calistas. :)
Hey, hey! I resemble that accusation! And where's wisefoo?
What happened to Quakebells, I go away for a week and it gets abandoned?
I dunno, skip to the next player?
yeah... wth?

EFG is up! If no word from him soon, Jon, stand ready!
I didn't realize it was cycling... last turn I made a large mess (the consequences of which Calistas had to suffer) and it took literally a week where I was playing it for all of my free time.
In less words, please skip me this round (and probably all future rounds).

you sent that out at 4 am my time.
I will play wednesday night.
You don't have a text alert on this thread???? WTF man????!!! Good luck :)
Hell will be unleashed on quakebells.
I'm in for after Damien, bring on the doom....
I'd like to suggest Gunther as a Dwarf name - preferably some sort of unhinged military dwarf.
Calistas, do you know the best way of getting that gfx pack working with the latest release of the SDL optimised client?
Not sure it's possible, sorry. That being said I haven't looked to find out.
Does anyone know if the dwarf manager works with vista? I was having issues with the one packed in with calista's tutorial.
No problems with the included dwarf manager + Vista 64. Possible you may need admin mode (so it can control the other process.)
that is possible.
Jon, How's it going?
So, did we just give up here?
