Keeping a program from showing up in the taskbar

I'm on XP Pro at work, and for reasons I'll leave to your imagination (don't think about goats, don't think about goats), I'd like to have a program open that doesn't display down in the taskbar.

Short of having the taskbar auto-hide, is there any way to keep a program open and NOT have it show up down below? I've looked, and it doesn't have a 'minimize to tray' option.

Thoughts?

Or, use one of the many virtual desktop solutions out there (I think there's a basic virutal desktop in the XP Powertoys from MS, even) and do your naughty stuff on a different desktop?
