    whitehouse.gov blog

The media may be dead today. My government leaders will now say to me directly what they want to say and I can give them feedback (filtered through their staff of course), check them for accuracy and loop in my friends if I want.

Does this signal the end of the MSM? We've been looking at government through their prism for decades.

I am posting this with extra snarky, but I am opposed to emoticons, so I am adding the snark in pure text. Hurrrr.

    Too late Mr. Wild Pokeherman

Errr. I really hope not. As worthless as the MSM is a lot of the time, I'm really leery of just taking whatever the white house says at face value. Even the Obama administration. Lets keep at least the semblance of investigative journalism intact, m'kay?

Since the government is starting to talk to us directly, hopefully the MSM will stop just parroting what it's told, and actually go back to digging more deeply into stuff. Doing stuff like, say, verifying what the government says.

What he said. They need a value add beyond "copy".

There you go. The media has been so involved in "reporting" what government says and sucking up for access that I completely forgot what their role is in a functioning democracy.
