Stupid audio problem
ok, so I'm trying to get my stupid Stunt Island to work under Windows 2000 and I WAS using my soundblaster live til I realized how much I hate it because I have a VIA chipset.
So I removed the card and enabled onboard sound with the AC'97 VIA sound stuff.
Here's the deal, I can't get soundblaster 16 emulation on my pc WHATSOEVER. It does not exist. I have IRQ 5 open, and nothing is helping. I'm really irritable at this point. Any suggestions?
On a related note, I downloaded SCUMMVM to play monkey island 1 and 2 and it works great. Is there another utility like that that will play older games and basically bridge the IRQ so that I can use my sound?

Funny you should mention this. I was just having the hardest time getting Realms of the Haunting to run in XP with a Audigy and I ran across this neat little app that did the trick immediately. It's called VDMS Sound.
