There was some show I watched in the 70s maybe early 80s that was essentially motion comics. They were mostly using B level heroes though I forget if it was Marvel or DC, or some other company from the time. I feel like the show itself was actually probably from early than that too, but was just rerun. I need to hunt down what it was now. Hmm, it might have bee The Marvel Superheroes from 66 but even that looks more animated than what I remember.

I've really enjoyed the couple motion comics I've "watched" (mostly I'm just listening and the screen is vaguely in my field of attention), but I can see finding them really annoying when they're not marked as such.

Now that I think of it, the first instance of motion comics was probably some Flash animations made by Stan Lee Media in the early internet days, like "The Accuser", a comic about a crippled defense attorney with a magic wheelchair that turns into an Iron Man suit.

Apparently they also invented the word "webisode" to promote those. They were pretty bad, though.

The Stan Lee Media story is pretty amazing, actually. It reminds me of professional wrestling.

We just watched one called scorched (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286947/) that was pretty good. About three bank employees that decide to rob the same bank the same weekend. Don't look for anything deep from it, but worth watching.

Watched the two Hulk films last night, both were pretty good but not great. Planet Hulk is more "Hulk as a hero" where Hulk Vs. showed the "Hulk as unstoppable force of anger", which I prefer.

Question: What's the deal with goat-Thor?

Superman Doomsday is pretty good. Think I'll watch it again.

Edit: It seems that this has been removed from the watch instantly list for some fucked up reason. What the hell? Did I watch it too many times? What a load of crap.

HUGE update, lots of great movies added, but don't miss a little comedy titled "High Anxiety" from Mel Brooks, his Hitchcock spoof. Contains probably the greatest "zoom and enhance!" joke.

A good wow. I enjoyed it. It puts the Hulk in an unusual position. If you like animated superheroes I'd recommend it.

Man. I haven't see High Anxiety since my dad took me to the theater to see it when I was 12.

Seconded. Generally, I like DC's animated stuff better (Doom was great), but this is one of Marvel's better forays into the world of animation.

So Primer is back on Netflix.

Netflix reviewers said "it's a little hard to follow" and "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"

    You should watch it.

I'm a fan of legal procedural and cop shows, so I decided to look in the "...is just like..." category for something to get me by. I picked up The Guardian, and I'm 5 episodes in and it seems like a pretty good show. Lots of "before they made their big break" guest stars showing up (seasons ran from 2001-2003, IIRC). It stars Simon Baker of Mentalist fame, but in a much more serious role.

If you thought Memento was easy to follow, then Primer should be right up your alley. I'm a medium-big nerd in regards to the central plot mechanic and I found it utterly opaque.

That's weird, because it's on IW for me... I just pressed play two minutes ago here in sunny Connecticut and now I'm confused, so it must be Primer.

NetFlix IW has gotten weird for me since I went and added DVD rental to the standard streaming subscription. Now there seems to be no rhyme or reason that when I add something to my queue which is available in both DVD and IW mode it will appear in both separate tabs or sometimes only in the DVD queue but with a button that says Instant. Hmm. In this case (Primer) I do not have an IW option either like HPD.

Primer isn't available for me either. It did appear briefly in my instant queue a few weeks ago, but it vanished again before I watched it.

I've watched the first three episodes of Lilyhammer in the last three days. I'm really enjoying that series. It's a Sopranos character who has been transported to Norway, through and through. A great premise, and a well done show so far.

I watched "The Dresden files" recently, and thought it was pretty good. I haven't read the books, but the show had a neat way of presenting the universe.

I did think the music was somehow completely wrong, though. Sort of upbeat-jazzy with a brass section? For a basically arcane-noir detective show?
