I made it through to Season 2, but I have some moral issues with the show.

There is definitely a point where Spooks jumps the rails.

Yeah, MI-5/Spooks is pretty good, but it peters out after a few seasons. Also, Hugh Laurie is only in two or three episodes, probably because he started being House after that.

Boobs in space (plus loud retro music)!

Suggest you go catch the South Park parody episode if you haven't already. It makes a nice follow-up.

    Major Boobage.

I've probably mentioned this before, but I sat through Heavy Metal twice on opening night, and then took a bunch more of our friends and sat through it twice again.

We were STARVED for good sci-fi back then.

We talking about the original Heavy Metal, or that new one?

Because I really dug the original.

    There was a new one?

Oh, you mean Untitled Kevin Eastman Fetish Project?

I saw the original Heavy Metal for the first time on local TV when I was a kid. (TV 38 Movie Loft for those who live in Boston!) It was so chopped up and edited I didn't know what the hell was going on. The Den segment was about 3 minutes long, as I recall.

I loved the Captain Sternn segment, though.

There was a time when they didn't edit films on 38 and only took 4 commercial breaks through the entire movie.

I didn't bother reading this whole thread but I thought I'd mention I just watched Hotel Babylon and would definately recommend it.

Did you see the one where Ricky Gervais plays a bellhop? (Extras joke)

Let the Right One In. It's subtitled; dunno if it's the proper subtitles as released, or the crappy subs from the initial DVD print (I've never seen it, so I wouldn't know). Anyone familiar enough with it that could give it a quick peek?

    Also: Teenage Tit Freaks.

I watched the movie recently with the crappy subtitles, and I don't see how the subtitles could have been that bad, considering that the movie doesn't have much dialog. I think you'll be fine watching it either way. I enjoyed the movie. (3/5 stars on Netflix).

I liked it too, and I would never have watched it if it hadn't been available this way. Now, I have season two, disk one at home (since it isn't on watch instantly).

BTW, while we are talking netflix, is the Blu-Ray service worth it? I just got a Blu-Ray player for the first time and have no disks.

Yes, totally worth it. It's only $2 more per month for Blu-Ray if you have 1 disc at a time, and that's a lot cheaper than renting blu-ray movies from Blockbuster retail stores.

I always wished Howard stole that for an open...STEEERN...like the time he had a nun prostitution ring....

You guys totally made me queue up the Heavy Metal sequel (which I somehow completely missed the existence of prior to seeing you guys talking about it) while working from home today. Man -- it was exactly like the sequence in the original movie with the valkyrie chick, basically, just filled out to feature length. Quite a let down, even though the comments prepared me to lower my expectations.

The original valkyrie story was much better.

This one was worse than some tacky Cinemax late night. It didn't even seem like they gave a shit - like they were just goofing around while drunk for a weekend, and knocked this thing out.

Seems like they've closed the loophole where International users could use Netflix.

Just found this out myself. God, what a pain. Anybody know of a workaround? I was using Hotspot Shield to set up a VPN on my laptop for setting up my Netflix account, but I have no idea how to spoof the IP my Xbox goes through.

OK, so Heavy Metal 2000 wasn't awful. But it was pretty bad.

You would have to set up your router to go through a US proxy server. Even if that's possible, it would be way too much hassle, so I just cancelled my Netflix subscription. Thinking about it, I guess the movie industry is the only type of business that don't want my money, as currently my only option to watch movies digitally is through The Pirate Bay.

That and Ghost in the Shell were the only two anime movies that I owned as a teenager (on vhs, of course). It will be interesting to see if this one holds up.
