I vote that 2pm PDT is a stupid time to rollout something huge and mandatory. It should go out midnight tonight when fewer people will be on to let people ease into it.
Yes
No
The NXE is great and I'm excited for all my friends to have it so I can laugh at their avatars and we can have parties and stuff. But as with seemingly every online product rollout ever, I just can't believe it's going to go smoothly. What do you think?

I predict no. They've already had problems with Live this week, and I don't think this will go smoothly. I hope I'm wrong though!
I think it will probably go smoothly. Its not like everyone is getting on all at once to update. It will be somewhat staggered throughout the night and morning.
Microsoft's servers are certainly robust enough to push this out to everyone, and the rest of the setup is done on the console. Content on the server side is mostly staying the same. We are just accessing it in a new way.
I updated last night, and everything went perfectly.
We shall see I guess.
What is NXE?
SHIT BOOOOOOOOONAAAAAAAAAAARZ
It requires someone to accept the update so the 5pm rush is a definite possibility.
I'll admit, I haven't really been following news regarding the New Xbox Experience. All I care about is the Netflix streaming. The new interface screenshots make it appear a bit more tedious to find stuff you're looking for. Is there no longer a list view for movies, demos etc? You really have to flip through the MS version of coverflow, 1 entry at a time, to find stuff?
In late breaking developments - http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/...ix-360-movies/
I could care less since we don't get Netflix here, but way to go Sony! Not.
What the hell do think this is, a PS3?
Smooth as silk.
Looks like its time for me to find about 8 gigs worth of shit on my lousy 20 gb hdd to delete so I can install at least one game.
Wasn't Live creaking under the weight of Gears of War 2... this week? I don't trust MS after the mess that was Live after Christmas 07. I am expecting big problems yet again.
I am intrigued. I would like to subscribe to the Netflix enabling newsletter.
I expect hiccups with the NXE rollout, but probably just delays.
Sony signed up with Netflix for PCs and supported devices, the 360 is a supported device which is a rival in a field Sony competes within directly which was added after the license was forged.
I mean, that's the only reason I can think of, that would mean anything.
A few weeks ago Sony acquired full rights to Sony/BMG effectively becoming Sony music. This could be an advent for the free music video service SCEE was refering to, a few months back.
It would make sense, in way.
It's just business : (
Oh, I almost forgot, Universal movies aren't available on PSN either.

I'm gonna say No, 'cause I signed in just now (2:30am PST), and I see no sign of the NXE update yet :)
I got the information from someone in the NXE thread at GAF. So here's the process I used:
Initially, you need a valid US address (it doesn't have to be yours), a US credit card (or a virtual credit card) and a US proxy server.
You can find an address by using Google. I got help from someone at GAF, and started with
McDonald's of Raymond New Hampshire
Rte 101
Raymond NH 03077
and found something close to that.
If you don't have a valid US credit card, then sign up at entropay.com for a virtual VISA card. Note that they require you to fill it up with at least $20. This virtual card can now be used when signing up on Netflix.com.
Next, if you don't know of any US proxy servers, use the one at www.hotspotshield.com (just download and install). You only need the proxy when you access netflix.com through your browser.
So use the proxy and sign up at Netflix.com using your fake US address and the credit card. Choose the $9 subscription (one DVD title and unlimited streaming).
Then open up a US XBL account (Silver is fine). If you don't have one, just make one with your US address. Then sign in with that, go to the video blade and download the Netflix application. When the 4MB app is downloaded, open it and choose to use a Gold account. Then select your main account (with Gold) and you'll get an activation code for netflix.com.
Now, with your browser (using the proxy), go to www.netflix.com/activate and type in the activation code. Stay in your browser, add titles to Instant Watch Queue and see the titles pop up on your Xbox 360.
Some things to remember:
- Use your real address when signing up at entropay.com!
- Always use the proxy server when accessing Netflix.com
- Don't add titles to your DVD queue!
- Netflix/MS may shut down your subscription at any time (and you'll be down $9 if it's after the free trial)
- The Entropay card can be used anywhere (if you want to spend left-over dollars)

I logged on at 2:35am PST and it was up and installed in under 3 minutes. I thought they said we didn't have to use the new Avatars, yet the first thing it did was make me create an Avatar. Ugh. In other news, it takes 5.9 GB to install Fallout 3 to disk. I guess that 20GB hard drive isn't going to last much longer.

The upgrade was perfect.
I turned on my 360 about 2:15 AM PST and got a notification the a system update was required. It proceeded through a quick download (~15 seconds) and restarted. After the restart there was more to download, but it was fast, about 4 minutes.
Everything looks great, and it's really fast and responsive. I cleared a bunch of crap from my drive (10.2GB free) and I'm installing Fable 2 now to see how it works. I was bummed when I went into the display settings and saw that there was no 1920x1200 support... the native resolution of my shiny new 26" LG w2600H LCD. For the longest time I was running an old 20" Envision that I picked up at Costco a few years back which had a native resolution of 1440x900 and was always waiting for MSFT to add that resolution. Now, not a week after I get a new LCD, they release the new dashboard it still doesn't support my native resolution. Here's to hoping they can/will add it in in a future update.
I'm trying to set up the netflix streaming, but every time I go to the netflix.com/activation, it rejects the code my 360 is giving me.
Have you tried getting a new code?
