Tyrion and Catelyn, at the Eyrie I'm assuming.
--- Alan
Good shot of Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly. Tarly looks like he was cast well, as he looks both big and meek.

I always imagined Jaime as just a tad more soft in his appearance to match his sister, but the actors do have some broad similarities in their features so there's still some of that there.
And damn, in that shot, he nailed Tyrion's contempt during that scene. Great shot.
That really is Tyrion right there.
It's getting hard for me to contain my expectations for this. Seeing Dinklage as Tyrion pretty much put them through the roof.
They're going to wrap filming of the final episodes soon; the first episodes are already well into post production. We may get an honest-to-god real trailer when Boardwalk Empire wraps up its first season on December 5.
In other news, Amanda Peet, aka Mrs. David Benioff, was on Jimmy Fallon last night and they actually talked about Game of Thrones for a bit. Sorta hilarious watching her try and describe the show.
What the heck is that weird tentacle thing on the front of Catelyn's robe?
Looks like furs to me.
Don't care all that much for Jon's physical casting, but, yeah, Jaime is damn good. They needed a larger, better actor for Robert though.
If you haven't seen/received the new issue of EW yet, scans of the all new shots, including Sansa and Arya!!!!

That guy is no where near ugly enough to be Tyrion. I'm not as pleased with the casting as most people, I hope I warm up to everyone.
No adaptation of a novel is ever going to be pleasing to everyone. Everyone has their own mental image of the characters in their head. And at the end of the day, the producers have to make comprises with what's on the page for a million different reasons. Like I said earlier, if you waited until you had the perfect catch that matched the exact written description of the character, you'd never get filming started because the odds of getting quality actors who matched every character at the same time are astronomically remote. That, or you start making gigantic compromises in acting talent (basically porn star acting), as you only care what the actor looks like, and not whether they can act. I can tell you that every time I'd sacrifice fidelity to the character's description in the novel rather than acting talent.
And to do Tyrion right would require heavy makeup and most likely facial prosthetics.
Yeah, and it would get even worse in a Season 3. I'm still wondering (if we get there) whether they're going to change the nature of his injury, because to be faithful to the books would require a ton of CG every time he's on screen, and we are operating on a television budget still. Or they use a mask, but that would cover up the face of one of the main characters all the time.
Have they at least given him two different eye colors? I haven't noticed it in any of the pictures.
Have they said when this is airing? Haven't read the whole thread and IMDB didn't have any dates when i checked.
Spring, 2011.
Re-read the first 5 chapters of the first book last night; damn I can't wait for this, there's just so much brilliance and foreshadowing already.
I have a HUGE hankerin to get my 3rd read through of the series under way (it's been ... 3 years now?) but I'm getting a Kindle 3 for Christmas and I want to have something cool to read on that.
Picked up a brand new copy of Game of Thrones (first book) for a dollar from the Goodwill. It even has the HBO sticker on it. Looks like it's fate for me to reread this before the pilot airs.
I really like Peter Dinklage in everything I've seen him in (and I haven't even seen The Station Agent yet, which has great reviews of his performance). He might not be a household name or a leading man, but he's a wonderful character actor in movies. In fact, I'm a little worried that he might not want to be tied down by a TV series, even an HBO series, especially one that might last for years and years.
On the other hand, maybe the show will open more doors for him. I guess James Gandolfini was able to do other movies while he was on The Sopranos.
He was the very first actor that signed on board. It's a very critical role, and there's not a lot of candidates that come to mind. Slender, hot blondes are everywhere you look in Hollywood. Talented dwarf actors? A lot rarer. And, let's be honest, it's the role of a lifetime for a dwarf. A major character instead of a sidekick or a side roll, plus he gets a ton of action (both in terms of great dialogue, and a lot hot women.)
The word from the set is that Dinklage is just nailing it as Tyrion. His scenes are reportedly quite awesome.
Woooooo... we're getting some goodness on Sunday and next Sunday!!!!!!
