Kill 50 Sand raider main quest, not a bonus quest.

I have a screenshot, but i'm too lazy to post it up.

    1. Put the "Emergency Fleet Pass" ability on your hotbar and don't use it. This is your "get out of Taris bug for free" card.
    2. If you start to get an unusual amount of lag when crossing zones, opening your map, or going into buildings, you are probably going to get hit by this bug soon. You can avoid it by untracking all your quests and unchecking your map options before entering buildings (especially the starport and crater base).
    3. If you are unfortunate enough to get hit by the bug and your framerate permanently drops to 0.5 or so, shut the game down and start it back up. Use your "Emergency Fleet Pass" ability and you should be free. If not, restart and get back to the character select screen. In settings, disable sound, drop the resolution to 800x600, and use the lowest graphics settings. Shut down any programs you have running in the background. Now select the character and get back into the game. Hit the 'L' button. Move the mouse over one of the lighted mission buttons and wait for it to get brighter. Click on it once, and wait until the light goes out. Repeat until all the missions are untracked. Restart, and you should be fine. After this, avoid Taris until they fix the problem.

It was only really bad for me until I finish my class quest on taris, so I just took off at 35 or so, wish I could have stick around for rest of the quest.

I don't think the "optional" quests are optional.

If you only do the main quest, you will be underleveled, and you will start dyiing a lot. So you will be forced to go back and do something to level up more. And with something, I mean the optional quest, and perhaps pvp, and.. I don't know... crafting xp? that one come very slow.. The quest are optional, the grind is not.
Swtor is not a honest game, but is not a good liar either.

This. I personally find them an amusing distraction between planet side missions, and doing the space battle dailies adds up to be quite a bit of experience.

As of last night, I'm level 21 (completed Ord Mantell and Coruscant, part way through Taris) and have yet to see even one "Kill X quantity of Y mob" quest. There's been plenty of that as optional bonus objectives, but it's not required to complete the quest (although since I'm an obsessive completionist, I treat every bonus objective as if it were a requirement anyway...).

Questing seems very reminiscent of side objectives in KOTOR or Mass Effect. Travel to a location, fight some enemies along the way, then interact with a person or object (usually a computer terminal) at the end. I can't stress enough how much the interactive and fully-voiced dialogue really sets this game apart, though. It really does feel like you're playing a traditional single-player RPG only in an MMO setting.

Question re: the space combat: is it possible to do these in a coop group, or are they single-player only?

Well *technically* you don't have to do the bonus missions because well they are bonus missions -I guess I should have been more clear- I have hit level 14 and I have not been actually given a quest like that by a quest giver.

Yes they hide it well I suppose but when they pop up, it is not as if it takes much more than finish fighting in that area to finish the quest you are on and you will get the bonus quest done.

MMmm, space missions- just got my ship and haven't had a chance to try. Looking forward to it.

Same here walTer. And MarchHare, they are currently single player but they're planning co-op and PvP additions.

I've only ever not done one of the extra side missions to kill things, because the things to kill were at a previous part of the area and once I killed them on my way back, the next part was deeper in the area where I'd just been completing my quests. I really didn't want to go back in at that point.

Also, they really need to reduce any of the quest chain ending boss spawns for these by about 50%

    What is the commando?

It can heal, nuke, put dots, and probably "tank"... what is a commando? Is a off-tank? is a hibrid class?

All of the multi-staged bonus quest ends with a boss fight. at least the reward is nice.

I can tell you that my Commando can't tank for longer than my damage reduction shield lasts (6 seconds?). It's a DPS or healing class.

Yeah, Vanguards get a tanking stance (+armor, 5% reduced damage, and higher chance of triggering your shield, along with more thread), which Commandos do not have access to.

I think I've got this right (using Republic ACs, but it should be the same for the Sith):

    Vanguard: Tank or DPS
    Commando: Healer or DPS
    Jedi Guardian: Tank or DPS
    Jedi Sentinel: DPS
    Jedi Shadow: Tank or DPS
    Jedi Sage: Healer or DPS
    Scoundrel: Healer or DPS
    Gunslinger: DPS

I think what he's saying is that they need to increase the spawn rate of the quest bosses. Currently you have to sit around waiting way too long for one to spawn if another player happened to kill the boss before you arrived.

Sorry, yes, that should read "respawn by 50%" or some such.

So are you guys that have done multiple alts ready to admit that you skip through the cutscenes you've already done?

I don't have any alts yet, but are you referring to cutscenes or conversations?

Cutscenes, yes. Conversations not, as different characters choose different options to match their alignment.

If by cutscenes you mean the repeated animated videos that play during area transitions (like docking with the fleet or landing on a planet, for example), then I'm already skipping those on my first character after watching them at least once.

I don't skip any of the conversations, though, and I doubt I will even on any alts I play.

Why "ready to admit?" I mean, other than your ongoing weirdly passive-aggressive attitude towards the game and the people enjoying it?

Anyway, sure, I'm "ready to admit" I frequently skip through dialogues I already did in beta. How many Hail Marys should I do in penance?

I was wondering at the way the question was asked too. I certainly don't feel sheepish about enjoying the storylines and conversations.

I mean like the second time you take a trooper through 1-10 and they are all the same.

I certainly didn't mean to be passive about it.

I just get sick of people spouting about how great the conversation scenes are and how much they add to the game when in reality, they get old fast. As more people are playing and grouping, we've found, as expected, it's a big detraction from being group friendly. We're already looking toward the next mmo in the hopes that it's more multiplayer.

Speak for yourself. In my grouping experience so far, players have been very patient and watched as the conversations played out. Will that change when we're all playing our third or fourth alt through the same quests? Sure, it probably will, but I skipped through most of the dialogue during my second time playing through Dragon Age and Mass Effect too. I don't go around complaining about how fully-voiced conversations in those games ruined everything, though.

If you don't like it, that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. Most of us in this thread genuinely do enjoy the conversations, and I'm not sure what your agenda is trying to convince us that we're all wrong for some reason.

How exactly do you mean more multiplayer? I've had a lot more fun grouping in this game than I ever would in WoW, or other recent MMO's. Considering the entire group can join the conversation, and you all get a chance at speaking. I'd say that's more interaction than WoW ever gave for group quests.

Islobberon wants to start a quest. Do you want to start this quest to? (yes or no)

And god forbid you get exp and credit boosts for actually being in a group.

Black Talon, for instance, the first Flashpoint you generally do on the Sith side, plays out two different ways depending on whether you go Light or Dark side on your conversation choices. It's pretty cool.
