    P&R youtube thread

Rather than stink up the regular youtube thread with political garbage (which, uh, I already did once), this thread is for P&R-related clips/ads/whatever. I'll start:

    Walnuts!

When did the evil inside take over? Was it always germinating, but latent, throughout his life?

I don't think it's being disputed that the Democrats were a large part of the problem. I do think it's fair to say that if the president for the last eight years wasn't so wrapped up in starting wars to defend his father's honor, he might have had the time and/or motivation to actually do something about it before now. Maybe back when the Republicans had full control of the Congress and could have pushed through whatever reforms they needed to.

Actually MattKeil, the responsibility for the current economic crisis lies with Democrats in congress during the Clinton years.

I know this because Bill Clinton said so on Good Morning America.

Matt, I'm glad you are coming around...mostly.

Did you read the NEW YORK TIMES article in 2003 that the Bush Administration was trying to reform? I guess he wasn't THAT distracted.

But you do realize that even with a number majority that it can be impossible to push through legislation? You know how government works right?

Maybe you need to watch School House Rock again.

Okay, so far all I've learned from this thread is that there a lot of people out there with zero senses of humor and access to video equipment.

My viewpoint hasn't actually changed. Any movement is on your end.

Did you read the NEW YORK TIMES article in 2003 that the Bush Administration was trying to reform? I guess he wasn't THAT distracted.
Distracted enough to fail miserably. But at least he got that war up and running!

But you do realize that even with a number majority that it can be impossible to push through legislation? You know how government works right?
I haven't actually seen it work in so long that it's sometimes hard to remember. That's when a bunch of rich white guys send a bunch of poor people's children to die for financial reasons, right?

Maybe you need to watch School House Rock again.

Not hot at all. In fact, anti-hot. If Sarah Palin could do something like this, I would vote for her no matter what she says about the giant floating Putin head.

EDIT: Oh noes, my favorite super-hawt Sissy Spacek baton twirling video has been removed from stupid YouTube! Why, YouTube, why???!!??

IIRC, it was from an old SNL episode -- NBC likely yanked it.

I pointed out in that other thread exactly what happened to that bit of legislation. It's failure had zero to do with the Democrats, and everything to do with Republicans letting it to die a quiet death in a Republican-controlled committee.

But you do realize that even with a number majority that it can be impossible to push through legislation? You know how government works right?
Why don't you explain it to us? Because as far as I know, if a party controls a simple majority of the House and the Senate, as well as the White House, then the only thing the minority party can do to hold up legislation that the majority party wants to pass is filibuster. So when did the Democrats filibuster that bill, exactly? Oh, that's right: never. Because it was killed by the Republicans before it ever reached the floor.

Maybe you need to watch School House Rock again.
Maybe you need to stop repeating things that you know to be false.

Olbermann: Palin == Bush in a dress. Great contrast of Palin's "aw shucks" outsider folksiness with Bush's in 2000. And it underlines the common GOPAC connection.

Hey Sarah Palin, to the tune of Hey There Delilah.

As for Franken, I'd really like to see him use his comedy skills as part of his political style. A top-notch satirist in office could be one of the best bullshit deflators this country could hope for.
