Well, people won't go to three hour movies.
Duh.
Tarantino's new film, Kill Bill, is now set to be released in two parts. Instead of a three-hour movie, Miramax is going to release two 90-minute movies, a few months apart. This is allegedly because they couldn't possibly release a 3-hour movie, and wanted to figure out a way to release the whole movie as a favor to Tarantino, because they like him so much. It is most assuredly not a scum-drudging ploy to get twice as much of your money for a single movie. No sir.
I had been planning on seeing it, but fuck them. I won't even rent it.

Duh.
It better be sold as one DVD for the normal price of one DVD.
This seems like a classic case of a creative guy needing to be managed by an editor.
That is ridiculous. I wasn't even that excited about the movie to begin with.
You think? What with the Matrix flicks coming 2 at a time, I am just wondering if this isn't the next Big Thing(tm).Originally Posted by Desslock

I'm all for it, though. I'm in the Kill-Bill-Will-Own-Your-Ass camp, and so far as I'm concerned this just means double the goodness.
Plus, double the ass owning.Originally Posted by Gary Whitta
I agree. I love Tarantino films. I even loved his horrible starring role in From Dusk 'til Dawn. In the pre-Clooney is full of himself days.
He could make it into a monthly serialized release in 6 parts and I would go see it.
Clooney was the bomb in Return of the Killer Tomatoes.Originally Posted by Tyjenks

Miramax could release a 3-hour film without a second thought, if they wanted to--they're just cutting it in half so they can charge you double the normal price for the movie.Originally Posted by Tyjenks

This definitely is a stunt of sorts. The Matrix sequels being seperate films saves us from having to watch a 5 hour movie. A 3 hour film is pretty common.
Personally I wouldn't be surprised if this film could easily lose 30 minutes. While I respect Tarantino and Roger Avery's writing for Pulp Fiction, and some of the writing behind Resevoir Dogs, that's where my respect for Tarantino ends.
Here's where I may get some people to gather the torches and start the witch hunt. I put Tarantino in the same camp as Kevin Smith, guys who come up with some funny lines but genuinely don't know that much about putting together a professionally done film.
I think it's tough to look at Pulp Fiction and say the guy who wrote and directed it doesn't know how to make professionally done film.
Maybe I need to re-watch Resevoir Dogs. When did it go from being a great directorial debut to an amateurish piece 'o poop?
Popularity is a killer in Music and Movies both, I guess.
What has Tarintino done since Pulp Fiction? I can't think of anything of value. This is definatly a guy that has stretched his fame long past what it should be.

Did this movie even look good in the preview trailer? Now I'm gonna have to pay $14 to see the whole thing. No thanks. What a low blow from Tarantino.
"You didn't think it was gonna be that good, did you?"
"You know, for a second there, yeah, I kinda did."
Smith isn't even a mediocre directer. Thank god he's finally getting a good cinematographer on his next film... Tarantino inspired a generation of film-makers.Originally Posted by awdougherty
Tarantino did things with film that reverberated throughout the decade. His unique innovation and stylistic shorthand has become so commonly used by other directors that it's possible for someone to look back and discount him as "just another Tarantino wannabe." But the irony in that statement should be obvious...

Granted he only acted in it, but what a turd.
And now, Ladies and Gents: Kill Bill, Part 1, the Trailer

For $18 bucks, I'll be able to buy the DVD. Actually, it's more like $19 'round these parts.Originally Posted by Alan Au
How the hell does that warrant a two-part release? It's the same old revenge story that's been told a thousand times. Tarantino should be able to tell it in 90 minutes, not four hours. And, man, does anyone else just despise Lucy Liu? I can't watch anything that she's in. Every one of her lines is delivered with this smarmy, all-knowing smirk that drives me nuts.
She's also one fugly looking Asian.
?? That's a first, because I usually hear from my MIS co-workers how hot they all think she is. Meh.Originally Posted by Dirt
That's probably because of her bitchy dominatrix demeanor.Originally Posted by John Reynolds
