That is some crazy shit.
After repeated robberies, I installed motion detectors, and a security camera. I made the crack that there was nothing worth stealing besides the camera.
Bastard steals my security camera. Fortunately, he couldn't get in, and I have some decent footage of the idiot. I hope the cops pick him up on an unrelated charge and add the crap to his trial.
With my luck, the same guy will come again, electrocute himself, and sue me.

That is some crazy shit.
Clearly the guy has been watching too many episodes of The Wire.
Business or home robberies?
Because if it's home robbery...DAMNNNN.
Obviously the only solution for this is a security camera on the security camera.

Well, maybe if your security camera and motion detectors weren't inconveniencing legitimate guests so badly, you wouldn't have this problem.
YouTube or it didn't happen.
Interesting. I've thought of putting in cameras myself since although I haven't had a break in, there seem to be stories of that floating though the neighborhood.
Based on what happened, any advice on how/where not to mount the camera?

Is your house (or business, can't really tell from the post) designed such that a sentry gun could have LOS to all entrances?
Make sure to build the dispenser a decent distance away to avoid splash, unless your plan is to sit there wrenching the sentry all day.
Also you get bonus points if any Clay Davis impressions are audible in the background.
Both are easily countered with this.
Sorry, didn't mean to abandon the thread. I have daydreamed of vigilante internet justice but I have to think about it. First, to see what, if anything, the cops come up with. After all, there is the small chance they actually have the guy and someone recognizes him. Then the video would be thrown out of evidence or something because too many people have seen it.
I'm going to need a camera for the camera, like Erik says, but then the guy will just be like, SWEET, MORE LOOT!

Okay, got it. Thanks Rei.
Should have more but didn't get around to uploading yet.

I don't know why but this is one of the creepiest things i've seen in quite some time. It has a Blair Witch Project vibe. Especially that way of blinding the camera - totally unexpected.
Where is this, though? This doesn't seem like any American neighborhoods i'm familiar with, and the criminal displays a certain ingenuity. Is this somewhere in Europe?
That security cat was useless!
Dude, you were robbed by Solid Snake.
Also, you apparently live in a war zone.
Washington Heights, New York.
Dominican neighborhood at the very upper tip of Manhattan. It's very.. dense.
Mono knows this place I think :)
The Qt3 take on the much-publicized event begins here.
The guy who set up the Web page has put up an abridged one.
Very interesting read. Thanks for the links. Don't know how I missed that back when it happened.
BASTARD STOLE ANOTHER CAMERA LAST NIGHT.
Okay, gonna have to bug cops for real now.
Wisefool, I'm going to apologize in advance for what will probably seem to you like kicking a guy while he's down, but -- this is funny as all hell.
Any more footage of Solid Snake-wannabes?
Ever thought of a wall mounted turret?
No, I agree it's really F-ing funny, I can see the humor in it. I just don't believe this crap ever happens. It's just really, really annoying because it's like coming back to a parking lot to find your car is all keyed up - it frustrates me, but I can't really do much about it.
With perspective, it's not a BAD thing - I don't live there so I can still sleep at night - nobody was physically harmed. Just a bit scary when I have to go in there to fix stuff alone.
For your amusement - Here's some of the plans my friends emailed me when I complained to them the first time:
How to make a DVD Burner into a high-powered laser. Strong enough to blind, but not slice limbs.
My budding lawyer friend sent me plans for a microwave gun. It's a good thing he's a lawyer cause he made it very clear this is illegal. 2.4 Ghz wifi antenna + microwave magnetron (1000 watts or higher) = Win.
The only feasible, legal plan is wiring an M80 to a time-delayed fuse and rendering electronics useless if power is disconnected.
