He was funny. That's really too bad.

I was really hoping he could pull through. He'd been struggling with that sarcoidosis for years. :(

His sitcom from a few years back was underrated, it reminded me of some of Cosby's comedy about family and childhood, but a little edgier for modern times.

Sarcoidosis is almost never fatal. It's possible that it could have been a contributing factor if the sarcoid did physical damage to the lungs before going into remission but I'm not sure I would chalk it up as a cause in his death unless a doctor comments further.

This news really bothered me. I loved this guy's stand up act. Comedy has lost one of its greats.

Man I love this skit, his completely non-politically-correct impressions is hilarious:

Sarcoidosis apparently often presents more severe symptoms in people of African descent, and there had been articles in the past about his being hospitalized with pneumonia during the taping of his sitcom and after the shooting of Ocean's 11, and the sarcoidosis was cited at the time as being a contributing factor. So yes, I assume it left him unusually vulnerable to more lung infections even after it went into remission.

Also, each time you have an lung infection/pneumonia, it damages your lungs, leaving them weaker than before even if you feel fully recovered. Not to mention the effect other things, like smoking, can also add (don't know if Bernie Mac ever smoked, just pointing it out).
