    I have a cartoon.

    It'll be in development

I'll be waiting for the eventual qt3 backlash when the show is deemed either too kiddy or not clever enough. Believe me when I say that talking to development executives and broadcast representatives on animation series is like the riddling the challenge of the sphinx.

Also, we wanted the name Game On but people were worried about copyright issues. And I'm still not happy about Baer High but we needed something as a placeholder. You can direct your ire to the other writer.

    Otherwise. WHOOOPPEEEEEEE!!!

Now comes the three years of hope that I don't screw it up.

    EDIT: fixed link

    OK, so congratulations.

Why a high school and not a middle school?

    That's pretty interesting, Equis.

When do we get a preview?

Puberty is more fun to write.

Also, the high concept is that we wanted to take all those high school drama cliches and abstracted it to some form of gaming concept. So like if the main hero wanted to talk to the hot cheerleader, he'll spend part of the episode trying to up his speech skill. (then we can do fun parodies like him killing rats with his buddies and wondering why it'll help)

A lot of things will probably be changing from here on out, but it's nice to be able to sit down with a budget and a direction and actually try to plan this out. Most of it will be in an NDA so I don't know when anything will tie down. Otherwise, I'm excited.

I just wanted to say that qt3 is quite a big inspiration in pitching and writing the initial concept. So thanks a lot hivemind!

    Congratulations!

As someone who made two Reader Rabbit cartoons I promise I will not be making fun of you...

Also because, I'd guess, 10-12 year olds are super aspirational. They are thinking about high school when they are in middle school, not middle school, and they assume it's going to be like it is on MTV. They hate things targeted at their own age group.

Congrats Equis. Drop me a line if you want to get really meta and do a web game based on your game inspired cartoon, pretty much all I've done for the last 5 years is high school themed web games for tweens (including an RPG and a Sim).

That sounds really genius. Are you going to be having the characters as kids of specific characters in a Clone High vein?

    because he's not japanese?

edit - ha, I didn't look to the left or RTFA. now that I have, still funny. sounds potentially interesting, although it'll probably be too kiddy and not clever enough, still, PJGM.

You should work at subtly slipping in as many Qt3 injokes into the cartoon as you can.

No one to captain this ship like a hard gamer! Congratulations! Even if it is aimed at kids I'm sure I'll get quite a few laughs out of it.

Will Baer High have a cranky old principal who scoffs at the kids and their newfangled 3D videogames?

    Why not "High Score"? :D

For the better part of the last year or so, I've been contributing to the soundtrack of a cartoon that's broadcast on Teletoon in Canada and the Cartoon Network in the US. I play the guitar and bass parts, and the heavier we get, the more the producers seem to like it. It's a lot of fun dropping some Korn or Slipknot style riffs into a children's cartoon... and asbsolutely surreal when I walk into a store to see the show on all the TVs (which has actually happened twice).

It's one of the most fun things that I get to do, so congratulations - I hope you have a blast with it! Let us know how it comes along.

The principal's design is that He's a pong tablet with a ball constantly bouncing off his head. So he's going to be permanently annoyed at things. So yeah!

Yeah your show for eight to twelve year olds is just too fucking kiddy for me, man. More blood n' tits plz.

    (seriously though, congrats.)
