Is this the movie he was involved with when he tried to commit suicide?
And yea - I'd not bet a dime against you.
Having seen the same trailer for this Owen Wilson project about 800 times, I am confident that I can spoil the plot without even seeing the movie:
Nerdy, outcast kids who think they need a protector hire Owen Wilson's dubious slacker as their bodyguard. The slacker convinces them he's an experienced bodyguard and proceeds to teach them self-defense. Sadly, it turns out that he has zero bodyguard experience and was just trying to make a quick buck off them. However, all find the experience transformational. Drillbit becomes a better man for having helped these kids, and he finds love to boot. The kids, meanwhile, gain self-confidence from having a "protector" around and discover all they needed all along was a little courage.
The end.
Bets on how close I am to being right about this?

No, no, you missed part of it:
Later, it turns out that the kids actually needed help after all when their saintly Mom's insane ex-husband returns. Drillbit discovers that, when motivated by love, he has mad skillz and successfully defends the family. Wedded bliss ensues.
I can buy that.
Owen Wilson plays Owen Wilson in the next Owen Wilson movie... starring Owen Wilson!
I can only hope it's as good as Hot Rod.
Seth Rogan wrote this, so I want to see it. I just hope it isn't as simple as Jerri predicts, and if it IS, that it is at least funny.
You forgot the part where Drillbit's secret is exposed by the villainous yuppie, alienating him from the people he has come to think of as his family. It is only after a period of depression that he finds himself and saves the girl.
Then at the end Drillbit Taylor is capable of defeating the bullies by using a computer virus.
At this point, if someone actually saw the movie and reported back, it would just crush all our dreams.
Just like Drillbit Taylor crushes the stuck-up preppies at the summer camp dance-off.
Can Drillbit defeat the robot by teaching it the power of love?
Dear Owen Wilson, I'm a representative of an internet community called Qt3 that has a project they think you'd be interested in.
I endorse this thread, and every thought in it.
Okay, people. The movie is out. It got a whopping 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. Who's going to take one for the team and see it? We need to know how close my prediction was.
Why are you looking at ME? I'm not gonna do it.
Hey, it's your thread. You know what you have to do.
Maybe I'll just pretend to go and then lie about the accuracy of my original post. It's not like anyone here's gonna see it and call me on it.
I plan to see it. I have a friend who saw it over the weekend, and said it was pretty hilarious.
I expect you're right-on about the plot, but I love Owen Wilson.
That said, I probably WON'T see it in theaters, so don't wait on my report. (Most of you wouldn't trust it, anyway, lol.)
