What's the best you've got? WASTE recommendation thread

Is there anything in specific anyone want to recommend people to download?

I can't be bothered to sift through all the crap you guys have ;)

(must avoid recommending DGS Born to be.mpg, Love is Flowers.mpg and Utenas_High_Hopes_-_AMV.avi in Music videos folder, so I don't seem like a raging fanboy)

Love is Flowers.mpg
After viewing, I give that a resounding "meh." For fans of anime only.

I'm glad you started this thread, though, I've been meaning to post some recommendations. You can start with the Donnie Darko soundtrack. It's either in WASTE_DOWNLOADS or under Audio\Soundtracks; I can't remember which.

Until then, just open my Audio folder and sort by filesize. This will highlight the folders with multi-cd sets, which are all quite good. For example the Rhino "Have a Nice Day" 70's set is 26 CDs. All of which I own and encoded myself, by the way.

Does anyone have the Rhino Nuggets I box set? I have Nuggets II, and I'm looking for the first one.

couple gigs of anime music videos
couple more gigs of regular music videos
at least a gig of emulation stuff
misc movies and music here and there

the catch?
NO ORGANIZATION, MWA HA HA HA

Oh, and don't tell the content nazis, but a low quality screener of 28 days is shared out too for those of you that want to check it out in advance. Personally I'm glad I didn't waste money on what I thought was a very disappointing movie.

Music I tend to listen to (and I probably consider to be good).
All of these are in my general mp3-directory (actually, I tend to listen to pretty much every song, but these are the ones I never skip), except the Ruin ones which are in My Shared Folder.
Hazel Dickens - West Virginia, My Home (WARNING: Bluegrass/country)
Hazel Dickens - The Mannington Mine Disaster
Hazel Dickens - Don't Bother To Cry

Julie Ruin - Apt. #5 (WARNING: Feminist punk from Kathleen Hanna)
Julie Ruin - I wanna know what love is
Julie Ruin - Love Letter

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart ;)

RevolutionaryGirlUtena_RinbuRevolution (Utena theme)

card captor sakura - catch you catch me (this is not a serious suggestion, but it's fun)

X TV OST - 02 - Sadame [destiny]

I'd recommend Knutna Nävar for their Swedish commie goodness ;) , but Swedish isn't that well-known as a language. I've considered translating some of those lyrics. Comedy gold! :)

I hesitate to recommend anything since it'll take a month or two for my modem to upload anything to you, but what the heck.

Pressure Points - Military Hand to Hand Combat Guide.

Because learning how to properly disable other people for life is educational.

Download that. It's only 600kb, so you might be able to get it off me before christmas if you hurry. It's in the PDF folder.

Well, I've got about 2/3 of the music put out on Sarah Records between 1990 and 1996 (when Sarah Records officially went under). Most of it was only released on vinyl, and I've laboriously put it into MP3 format. I'm sharing most of it via WASTE right now, but if there's anything in particular anyone wants, let me know and I'll put it up.

I highly recommend all of my episodes of the Sifl and Olly show, and all of my Pillows mp3s.

I've been encoding a cubic assload(tm)* of CDs every night.

Fellow WASTEoids, you should be doing the same. I expect-- no, I demand-- new encoded content. This means you!

Also, Betsy picked up the new Rooney CD. I encoded that and put it up. The single "blueside" is outstanding, and generally the album is musically interesting and certainly good. But overall it's a bit too, uh, John Mayer-esqe, (read: chick-friendly) for me. Unfortunately, another one of those bands where the entire front row of the audience is screaming women. I like the music, but I also like.. not feeling like a total pussy. Yeah.

* In this case, cubic assload = ~10. Because I have to do it between rounds of WC3, bouts of furious masturbation, et alia.

I have a subbed version of the insult to God and Man alike that is the movie I made with a few friends in High School.
I promise I'll encode some stuff, as soon as possible, I have several cds that I don't think anyone else on the network has in mp3 form.

Tyjenks' nutty use of the archaic word "tape" reminded me: does anyone have the album Body Count by our good buddy Ice-T?

I also highly recommend the 7-cd Sire records sampler "Just Say Yes" series. It's in my Various/CD Sets folder.

Ice-T - Somebody Gotta Do It (Pimpin' Ain't Easy)

My lifestyles crazy, I'm luxury lazy
So much gold that jewelry don't phase me
Cordless phone, eight or nine homes
Girlies on my Jammie with Ice-T Jones
Bank account boomin', fast lane zoomin'
Known around the world for my high post groomin'
Mac like a preacher, love like a teacher
Got a girl who lives in Paris
When I want her I beep her
Too many clothes, gotta rag top rolls
1.000 Watt system and my speakers are bose
I kick it like a champ, I throught you knew it

pimpin' ain't easy -- but somebody gotta do it

My thumbs are tired just from countin' cash
No more room in my diamond stash
Filin' my nails is such a tirin' task
Gold knobs on my benzo dash
Five freaks just to comb my hair
Monograms on my underwear
Bodyguards around so please don't dare
You're takin' a chance if you just stop and stare
Livin' my life is just so hard to do
Makin' deals a million one or two
Buyin' new cars for my entire crew
Matching Ferraris, E's black, mine's blue
Can't swin a lap in my pool because it's just too long
Could never go broke because my banks too strong
No matter what I do I simply can't go wrong
And I'll make money, I don't need this damn song

But somebody's gotta do it

When I walk in a joint, punks always look at me hard
Because I wear enough gold to tie a dog in a yard
Cold maxin' in my mansion so big it's silly
Got a butler named Humphry and a maid named Milly
Mink sheets on my bed, that's what I said
Gourmet chefs in my kitchen so that I can get fed
So tired of sailin' on my boat I might just Helicopter
To my jet and catch a midnight flight
So many girls in my book, it weighs a tom
Gotta leave the damn country just to have some fun
Private suite at the track to watch the ponies run
And there ain't nothin' in the word
That me an "E" ain't done

But somedody gotta do it

I know I used to have it. I'll look for it after work and rip it this weekend if I can find it.

How about any newer Daft Punk albums than Homework? Anyone? Class? Bueller? Bueller?

Well, Homework only had about 3 songs on it that didn't give me a headache, so I decided to skip on their other albums. I have a few of their newer music videos though - the animé-style ones.

waitaminit...we got people sharing Sarah Records stuff already encoded to mp3 so I don't have to?

Um...I want in! (How much pain will this cause a man stuck on dialup because his cable company is too bankrupt to install broadband? I will add that it's an "always on" dialup connection, as in I have a second phone line that I'm always connected to...)

Umm. I just got the new Big Bad Voodoo Daddy ripped and shared. Plus various illicit internet aquisitions.

Hmmm.

I just remembered that my dad has 200+ laser disc titles in storage, plus a laser disc player. Stuff like the Star Wars trilogy that's not out on DVD yet.

I probably ought to encode them.

There are directions on the first page of this thread. Basically you generate a key, post it here, have someone load it onto the network, then attempt to connect to one of the live nodes.
