    Spore hands-on: there's a game there!

What do you know. Looks like they finally found the fun. bit-tech is seriously lagged at the moment.

Seems like they've made the world diverse enough now that the creature design choices actually matter (e.g. put a herbivore jaw on and your creature can only eat plants). They also have DNA points which form the oh-so-critical-for-real-gameplay resource that you acquire through exploration and eating, and spend to evolve / customize your creature.

I'm more excited now than I was. Up until this point it seemed like a purely ungrounded sandbox. Now there seems to be some momentum and direction to the experience.

Don't snark me with a link to the other Spore thread, I know it's there.

I would enjoy the construction: "snark me up".

Snark would be a good name for a Spore species.

It was news to me too, but it looks like the DS one will be significantly cut down, of course.

Any word on the Wii version and will that be cut down as well? (A blown power supply has put my PC gaming behind me for a while.)

I already fixed my PC. Replacing the motherboard and a stick of RAM was one thing. Replacing the motherboard, CPU, RAM and video card wasn't in the budget.

Pretty much everywhere, it's gonna be hot.

This game just went from "What's all the fuss about an updated Sim Earth" to "MUST OWN NOW!"

Frungy had nothing to do with it! This thread was about war, slavery, intolerance, heroism, justice and the inevitable triumph of good over evil!

I always thought they were eaten. I always secretly wished I would find a surviving Androsynth in some corner of the galaxy and the last survivor would tell me his harrowing tale.

Jesus Christ, it's not often a thread derails so far that I have NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK ANYONE IS TALKING ABOUT ANYMORE. Especially one of MY threads. I guess I should be proud, or something.

If you didn't attempt to sell your soul to Satan for a copy of this game immediately after that initial GDC presentation, you don't deserve Spore.
