I was considering buying a handheld for business trips and stuck between PSP and DS, but this just sealed the deal.

I thought I'd dodged a bullet when the iPod Peggle port didn't work on my Nano, but this development pretty much means I won't get anything done any more.

I still haven't played Peggle and something tells me I should keep it that way.

You know, it's funny, last I heard (last week) this still wasn't official, and I'm quite surprised John announced this. But hey, I'm in favor of anything that gets Peggle in more hands. (And more often, at that.)

Nintendo has not approved this product,
Nintendo has to "approve" your game before you can even begin making it? With some of the awful crap out there, it seems like everything gets approved...

Canessa's statement (which is the only "official statement" on this matter) is in line with what I understood to be the case. I know he's been hard at work trying to make this happen though. I think maybe John just jumped the gun assuming it was all going to be worked out even though it hasn't been yet.

Well, they don't specifically say it's an up-front requirement there, but it would be silly to go ahead and make a DS game, only to submit it for certification and have Nintendo suddenly say "oh dear god no," when you could have known that up front.

if a low-production value knock off of bust-a-move like snood 2 can make it to the DS, I'm sure Peggle can.

Actually, every console maker has to approve your game. I think the difference is (according to an EGM article last year), Nintendo really does approve anything and everything. There is no filter.

That's overstated, they won't publish *anything*, but a quick glance at the Wii and DS libraries shows that (sadly) the statement is at least somewhat truthy.

It is kind of a curious position for them to take these days considering that many people see their NES-era "seal of quality" controls as helping to save of the videogaming industry back at a time when the quality of games released for the Atari 2600 dropped through the floor because of the lack of any type of release control.

Let's see, I've purchased Peggle for my Mac laptop, my PC and my iPod. Might as well add one more version.

As much shovel-ware as the DS has seen, this will be a welcome diversion to my normal game rotation. I bought the mac version and it never ceases to keep me cursing at it, I love this game, and I'll definitely be purchasing it, nothing like some peggle by the camp fire. :D

It's perhaps fitting, then, that they dropped the "seal of quality" words from the seal a few years ago. Now it's just the Official Nintendo Seal.
