    Laser Squad Nemesis

So I've had this account for about 3 months now (I think) and I've only played a few games. I signed up back at the beginning where it didn't obviously state that the Swarm wasn't in yet, so I got a little pissed off at them for not being honest about it after I first started playing. Anyway, I figured I'd give it another chance since I'm paying for it. Anyone out there have one and want to play against me? I haven't played in a long while, so I'll have to read up on the changes, so whoever challenges me will get to kick my newbie ass.

I was going to send you a challenge, but your email address isn't in your profile. Send me your email address (I'm at [email protected]) or boot up LSN and send me a challenge. I haven't played since I turned my CGM review in, so I'm not familiar with any of the latest changes either. I was going to play Jason Lutes, but he's been actually playing League Games, so I got scared off.

That's right, Chick, be afraid! Be very afraid! I just checked my stats, and out of 95 League games played, I've got a 64% win ratio. I'm not too impressed with myself.

I've never gone in for the whole "league" thing before with any other game, but with LSN I find it really fun.

There are lots of cool new features, like variable starting points, a destroy-the-HQ victory condition, and lots of new maps thanks to the map editor. Perhaps the most important change of which you should be aware is the speed of laser bolts: they're about twice as fast as before, so they're a lot harder to dodge.

All of youse should challenge me when you feel man (or machine) enough: [email protected]

    money

I`m curious as hell to know if Codo games are financially surviving on this game, as a concept of earning wages it`s daring to say the least. There certainly don`t seem to be enough people listed in the league to pay for even a small time of coders, artists etc

My understanding is that they're gradually building and refining it in preparation for the final, wide commerical release. They're going to add a third race, a strategic level, and a single-player game for the final version. I think I read they have a publisher for it, too.

So in traditional terms, the game is still in development and, I would imagine, being funded the way such things usually are, with the added (though indeed limited) influx of subscriber cash.

No justice in this world. If you make something like X-Com, you should never have to work again in your life.

I agree. And if they throw in a dynamic solo game like X-Com had in the final release version, I'd glady ante up some money for it (again, since I already subscribe).

I too subscribed with the initial "gold" release. I had great fun with it for several weeks. Then Heroes IV came out and the waiting for turns to arrive did not appeal to me as much.

Some nights I would have heated matches where we would exchange turns back and forth, a delay would occur on one side or the other because of a phone call or something like that, and after 3 hours we would have proceeded through 10, 15, 20 turns. Sometimes you would send out turns for 3 or 4 games and get nothing back. Such is the gameplay with PBEM.

I have a wife that works nights and weekends and a 15 mo. old daughter and I guess my free time, when I have it, needs to be filled to the brim with gaming. In my single days, I would have stuck with it and, if they have an engaging SP game, I will most likely sign back up.

For now, it is back to the wall to wall single player and hopefully MP action of Heroes IV and NWN. Albeit, all of this will be after 9:00pm CST when I am freed up from familial duties and doodies (hehe, little baby joke there.....very little).

Hey Tom, did you get my private message?

If not, I'll repost what I sent in it. Basically, I am going out of town on Friday and won't be back for about a week. I'll accept your challenge once I'm back, if that's alright with you.

Yeah, stuff like X-Com really puts the polio vaccine in its place. For example.

I tried this again today. I couldn't get past the tutorial.

Maybe if the famed "single player" part ever comes out I'll give it another shot. Otherwise, for some reason, I just can't get into this.

Is anybody else still playing? If so...why?

I used to play when it was first released but got bored with the same five maps and only 2-player support.

I just read that starting rosters are random on some maps. Is this true? That might spruce it up a bit for another few months...

I think it's a great game, but it is very easy to get tired of.

I wish there was a way to play with a direct connection to your opponent. I don't always want to wait on email.

No kidding. Voltaic and I would frequently play against eachother while at home. Our gameplay usually went something like:

Me: Dude, hurry the fuck up with your turn!
Volt: I sent it like 5 minutes ago, bitch!
Me: Well it's not here... Oh, wait, here it is.

    <5 minutes later>

Volt: Hey jackass, hurry the fuck up with your turn!
Me: I sent it like 5 minutes ago, Duh!
Volt: Hold up, here it is!

Rinse and repeat for about 30 turns and you get the general idea.
