Well walk the line is based on a true story so....
Yeah, there's probably a thread for this already, but I couldn't find it. Anyway. Saw it this afternoon. There were about 10 people total in the theater (1pm show), but holy crap was everyone laughing.
Whoever wrote the music must've had a field day -- I almost died during the Dylan-ish song.
My only complaint -- I haven't actually watched Walk the Line yet, only caught bits and pieces of it here and there on cable; I think they just totally ruined that movie for me, should I ever get around to watching it.

Can't wait to see this. I don't know what possessed John C. Reilly to decide to go from being a successful character actor to the funniest man alive, but I'm really happy he did.
I don't mean spoiled in the "gave away the plot" sense, but rather that when I get around to watching Walk the Line, I'll keep cracking up thinking of parallel spoof moments from Dewey Cox.Originally Posted by Marcus

I recently finished catching up on the American version of the Office. It's impossible not to fall in love with the Pam character and now I'm going to have to see this. It's good that this is funny too. :)
You ought to watch Slither. She's not in it for very long, but it's really funny.Originally Posted by Mordrak

I was slightly disappointed in this. It was funny, and I laughed hard in many places. And the music was almost all really good, and the satire quite pointed and smart.
But it didn't really link together well. I guess I can leave it at "it could have been better."
Slither is great, but I can't place her right away. I think I know now, but not sure. I'll have to rewatch it. Supposedly she's married to a Troma director. Taken, but at least she's alive. My last celebrity crush was Clara Bow after seeing her in It. No more defiling graves for me!Originally Posted by Eduardo X

Apatow's movies have all been its though. I'm looking forward to his stuff for next year.
"I'm cut in half pretty bad."
The songs were well done, but I didn't find it very funny. One of the funniest parts was when they had modern cars driving by in the background during the 60s part. Hope that was intentional.
I also had no idea that Pam from The Office had such nice boobs.
Saw this movie a few weeks ago and was really surprised at how funny it was! Anyone who may have passed it in theaters should definitely give it a rental.
Great comedy, good music, smart satire - and you're still dissapointed? I think you're expecting too much from a comedy. :p
Dewey walks in on the band smoking weed:
"No, Dewey, you don't want this. Get outta here!"
"You know what, I don't want no hangover. I can't get no hangover. "
"It doesn't give you a hangover!"
"Wha-I get addicted to it or something?"
"It's not habit-forming!"
"Oh, okay... well, I don't know... I don't want to overdose on it."
"You can't OD on it!"
"It's not gonna make me wanna have sex, is it?"
'It makes sex even better!"
"Sounds kind of expensive."
"It's the cheapest drug there is."
"Hmm."
If you're going to rent it, I would advise you to avoid the director's cut. There's a good reason all that stuff ended up on the floor.
And miss Cox punching out Patrick Duffy?
I saw the director's cut and I gotta agree with jerri. It made many parts of the movie just too damn long. By the time it was over, I felt it'd overstayed its welcome.
There were a lot of funny bits, but I gotta think that having seen the regular version would've been better for me.
So yeah, total laughs for the movie: 2.
And rrmorton spoiled one of them.
I did? All I said was "Tim Meadows was freakin hilarious in that scene."
I think he meant me but I'll let you take the blame for it.
Just saw this on DVD, and it was better than I thought it would be. I would have sworn that was Raul Malo singing in some places, however. If that was really Reilly, then I'm impressed.
Raul Malo? There's a name I haven't heard in a while.
Now here's a film that could have fallen flat and sucked at every possible opportunity. Instead, it did neither. Genuinely funny and entertaining -- even "The Unbearably Long and Self-Indulgent Director's Cut" -- with more amazing extra on the bonus disc.
FWIW, the video for Johnny Cash's "Hurt" said more about the man and his life in three minutes than "Walk the Line" did in 2 hours.
I thought the songs were hilarious.
The rest of the movie, not. I was really disappointed, and I have low enough comedy standards that I'd rate "Telladega Nights" as "pretty funny." A few laughs, but otherwise, "meh."
I agree with Denny. I was very excited about this movie, given the people involved and my belief that John C. Reilly could handily carry a comedy. I ended up loving the music and Reilly's performance, but rarely laughed. It just seemed to lack energy for the greater part, and plodded from one scene to the next.
However, I will admit to laughing at the belated "Wrong kid died!"
See, now I thought "Tallageda Nights" was "...meh" at best.
