Battery or car powered hot plate/electric kettle?

I would have thought this was a no brainer, but apparently not because I can't find one online. Anyone know if such a thing exists? I am driving out into the middle of nowhere Friday night to watch the meteor shower, and hot beverages will be required.

I'd get a thermos. If you're only planning on a one nighter. Otherwise get yourself a backpacking or camping stove.

Get a DC->AC power inveter at whatever wattage you need to power your coffee maker and you can have whatever hot beverage you want + the converter can be used for almost anything else.

eg, 1000w Power Inverter or 1500w would likely work & around $100

Do run your vehicle though, because frequent use will drain your car battery.

Shouldn't you be able to find this at any truck stop, right next to the syringes full of caffeine?

I dunno about car powered electric kettles, but you can usually get little heating elements that plug into the lighter socket. You dunk the element into your mug of water and it boils it. Here:

(note that was just the first relevant result from a google search, I'm sure you can find one on amazon or at rei or something)
